Thing is, there are a lot of people waiting for the N cars to drop. With all the warranty issues and minimal tuning options (with no manufacturer backing), Hyundai is already losing high performance customers by stupid statements such as those.

His Paris comment is a huge slap in the face to everyone who has modified a VT, Forte, Genesis, Sonata, Optima, Tiburon, etc.

Hyundai Worries a Focus RS Competitor Would Be Too Fast for Hyundai Buyers

I get his point, however don't agree. Hyundai hasn't really released a competitive hot hatch yet so it's new territory for them. They're afraid that while the market is there how many will take a chance on the most expensive hatch Hyundai has put out. VW started with the GTI and then over time they started releasing the R's.
On the other hand, how many Hyundai buyers have jumped ship because Hyundai didn't have the next level car for them?

    Weak:

    Much more informative:

For those who are wondering, 205kw = 274.9HP, which is ~234WHP (assuming 15% drivetrain loss).
