Got my hitch put on after months of it sitting in my shop floor. I've seen a few post with people talking of pulling some light loads. I'm gonna attempt to pull a 4x6 enclosed trailer on a 180 mile trip loaded with about 400lbs of Dj gear without blowing the motor or burning up the tranny. Lol

I got the curt hitch and got a generic harness with the relay thing from Advance Auto. I had a buddy install it while I was working today. It took him a few hours. It's a super tight fit from the factory. I may take it off and use some spacers to give myself a little more room when I upgrade the exhaust.

I'd like to hear some other users experiences towing. I know our car isn't designed for towing so no need to lecture me.

I'm all stock except for the "boost hack" which had to be done at the time because we broke a nipple on... Shit I can't remember what it's called.. when we installed my HKS style BOV. I'm also tuned Tork tuned at stage 1 and dyno'd at 218hp at the wheel. I feel like there is plenty of power for the haul and the tongue weight is fine. We shall see and I'll report back.

what we did for my hitch was cut it after the 90 degree bends that mount to the car, and add 1/2 inch of steel. cleared the exhaust shield with no cutting or removal. i use it to tow a tiretail that holds 2 wheels and if things work out a motorcycle camper for when i take my family camping.

i didn't experience any problems with towing the tail obviously.

It holds a double bike rack with about 45lbs of mtn bikes pretty good. Haven't actually pulled anything with mine. I have pulled the car out of a ditch with my truck, chain was hooked to hitch.
    Check out my build thread...https://www.velosterturbo.org/forum/m...silver-vt.html

Breaking in the new built engine with forged goodies and stuffed turbo.

    Quick update...

Towing was easy. I had an easy 500 lbs of gear and also the weight of the uhaul trailer. I could certainly tell the trailer was there but it didn't feel unsafe.

For testing purposes I pulled in 5th and 6th gears at speeds from 50-80. I found that I got 21mpg at 65mph in 5th gear. Not too bad considering I get about 6mpg in my other towing machine.

Overall I'm happy I put the hitch on and was able to use my VT to tow an enclosed trailer.
