0-60 and 1/4 miles times

For what its worth. Via an in car GPS based tracking application.

I was able to pull a 0-60mph in 6.0sec flat ( with moderate wheel spin in 1st ) and a 1/4 mile in 15.0sec @ 91mph .. ( forgot to take traction control off, can probably pull off 14.8sec on a good launch )

Both runs were done with 1/4 tank of gas 89 octane. Its also pretty chilly here. 45*F at the time of testing.

Thanks and I know but scared to go until I have money for a clutch. Don't know if my first one went from me or just bad clutch... gonna wait till it gets cooler as well. Too hot here! Hopefully my lighter wheels will help a lot as well

Yes I am lol
Was my first time ever at a dragstrip. Best run out of 3 was 15.8 and I'm fully stock, even the crappy tires. Not sure if this time is any good but I had tons of fun and had better time than 2 Gens that I came together with.
What is the best way to take off in VT? First run (ever) I held it at around 4.5K and then WOT and dropped the clutch.. Resulted in spinning tires in one place until I hit 3rd, then I started moving...
Second run I held rpms at around 2.5K and then WOT, did much better, but still it was only 15.8...
Wonder if I should not try to gun it right off the bat but apply gas gradually?
Any suggestions? (Other than more practice)

You ran a 15.8 and had better times than Gens? O_O Yowzers. You'll get better, don't worry. Practice makes perfect.
Yes, somehow they ran 16+ (one was mostly stock, the other had quite a few mods, both 2.0T)... I guess they are pretty "green" like myself ;)

the slip would tell you where you should practice, usually launch, i was still on stocks.. waiting for it to get cooler and maybe by then i need new tires and will go againt to see if i can hit thirteens
Don't think I ever posted my last slip here View attachment 36110 I'm the one on left from a bit ago
good to see your trap speed is getting there

Hopefully better when it's colder out!

On stock tires, drive around the water box and don't launch as hard, just feather the clutch till you get traction then let it rip

I had Traction Control off the whole time but am wondering if leaving it on might have helped with the wheel spin (yes, wheel spin was mostly my mistake)?
Has anyone compared the runs with and without TC on?
I've tried with both and if I leave the traction on I noticed close to a half second slower than if I just used my own foot and clutch to manage the spin

traction control could possibly help on the launch if your new to launching fwd cars, But the down side is could activate on some harder shifts and kill your time there.

Do NOT run with the traction control on, lower your launch rpms and don't necessarily hammer down full throttle off the take off to reduce some wheel spin. Another thing is to lower the tire pressure a tad for improved grip. Traction control is going to limit you severely.

Made 3 passes at the local strip today.

Auto trans
cone filter only
axle back removed in favor or straight pipe
tork pipe

15.6 @ 89 .8 rt
15.5 @ 92 .7 rt
15.4 @ 92 .5 rt

Left the eco mode on for all of them like an idiot...

Eco mode is disabled on WOT, no worries there.
Boost is different during WOT with ECO mode on. There are different calculations made with ECO mode on vs off when identifying the primary commanded torque table inside the ECU. I want to say there is a time window as well (I think its 5000ms) that disables ECO mode when you go WOT.

There is a 5 to 7% reduction in boost when in ECO mode when you go WOT (differences in reduction are due to different calibration files).

Its such a small difference that it would be hard to see on a boost gauge, but inside the ECU programming it is listed.

Not bad times, considering the mods you have... it looks like they added to the advertised 1/4 mile times!
Hopefully better when it's colder out!
I hope to see you back on the track soon!
