Looking at a set of 18x8 wheels with a +48 offset. Am I gonna have to run a 10-15mm spacer to get these to clear the brakes on the front? I see people mostly going with +35, with someone mentioning a +45 barely clears the front rotors. What about rear hardware clearance?

I’m also wanting to run a 235/40/18 or a 225/45/18 tire. I want the sidewall for more comfort. Will also be on stock suspension. Will this rim/tire combo work as is?

Yes it will work. Should be no clearance issues on any of those. Can actually go wider tire for more comfort, better look, better traction, more tire life.

Do you mean taller for more comfort? Wider just offers more traction, unless you are meaning a wider tire with same sidewall ratio. Then it would be slightly taller.
How tall can I go with a 225 or 235 tire?

Taller and/or wider will have more comfort. Can go to a 26" tall tire. 225/45 or 235/40 is tallest in those widths. I run 255/45R17 on my 15 VT currently. It's 26" tall no issues. 17 x 8 +48 wheel. So same clearance as the 18 x 8 +48 would have on a 255/40R18.

You got a side shot of your car with that 255/45/17’s combo? Congrats on cracking into the 12’s with your car. I remember running my first 12 second pass in a fwd car years ago!!

Stock height on K-Sport coilovers. Ride is great. Whole reason I went to this size if that it is the best compromise good for any scenario for the car.

How big of a tire can I go on a 17x7 et45 wheel? Think a 235 might be getting a bit wide? I’m not worried about cornering issues but still want a taller sidewall to take up wheel well space and keep ride comfort to a maximum

A 225/55/17 is 26.74” tall. That’s gonna be too much? A 235/45/17 is only 25.33”. I kinda want the extra sidewall for comfort. What problems am I gunna run into with that extra 1.4” of sidewall?

Over 26" no good. 25.x is fine.

I run 26" tall tires and 255 width on 17 x 8 +48 stock height. No clearance issues. The extra .3" should also clear if the wheel specs are in a good range.
