I just purchased a Veloster 1.6t with 15,000 miles. I Bought it from my local Hyundai as a certified pre-owned. I was wondering if it’s normal to hear a ticking noise at idle. I’ve been told it’s the fuel pump but I’m not sure. Can anyone confirm if it’s normal for the engine to have a ticking noise at idle?

Normal yes, however there can be noises that are not normal. This may or may not be able to be determined by a video and best determined in person by someone that knows what normal/abnormal sounds like. If purchased CPO then you can easily take it back to the dealer to be checked out and documented in case anything were to come up later.

The fuel pump is pretty noisy and located at the top of the engine bay. It usually makes a "Tick-Tock" and whistle sound at idle. Is that what you're hearing?
