I have a AT and when I get into 3rd gear and sport mode I start hearing a noise at around 4k-5k (which I am rarely in), the noise is louder when it rains, at least I think. Anyways the noise is a loud whirring noise, I have to be barely in the gas and I will hear it. If I slam on the gas it goes away. I can't find out where it is coming from. Anyone ever have this problem in a AT or even a MT?

Nope never noticed any strange noise on my AT.

Take her to the dealer to be checked out. Does not sound good.

Did you check the fluid level? I have heard stories of car shipping from the factory with low trans fluid. But back to the dealer is a good place to start.

I will double check the fluid level, but I highly doubt it is that because I would hear it constantly not just in a certain gear. Also, bjetman or anyone else with a AT have you tried throwing it in third gear while in sport mode, keeping the RPM's around 4500 with your foot barely on the gas see if you hear any whirring noise.
