Does the A/T "shiftronic" actually listen to you?
This is probably going to be the deciding factor in which transmission I opt for.
My current car (2010 Kia Forte SX) does not listen to me at the most crucial times, but I do know it's no "sports" car.
When I am on the gas in 2nd gear @ 5k RPM and try to shift up it either won't or there is a big delay (roughly 1-2 seconds).
Even tried different approaches like letting off the gas a little and shifting and just flooring it.
It just doesn't want to shift at higher rpm.
Most of the time I let off the gas a little and it shifts a second later.
How does the VT A/T hold?

In sport mode at RPM's higher than say 3k....mine shifts as soon as I release the paddle or bump the stick. No lag at all. Again...in sport mode @ RPM's in the 1k-2k range, I will get a bit of a delay at times if I am trying to go into too high of a gear at too slow of a speed. (say trying to go from 4th to 5th at <30mph, it just isn't as crisp as it is when the engine is screaming)

FYI, I have it on good authority that if you are cruising along on the interstate at around 65-70 in sport mode, drop it down to 5th and floor it, she will blast past the century mark in a flipping hurry! Not that I've ever done that you know.

This is reassuring.
Looks like i'll be opting for the A/T.
I do a lot of downshifting on the highway in my current car because nothing happens when you floor it in 4th/5th gear going 65-75 and you need to past some retard going 60 on the far left lane.
I don't know if this will be different in the VT but since my current car has no power, especially torque, i'm almost always downshifting to get that boost of power.

Just a word of caution though....don't put it in ECO mode on I 285/85/75/575, etc. Shift lag and responsiveness are horrid when in ECO mode.

I have not driven my current car in ECO mode for more than 2 years =].
ECO I find useless.
I get better gas mileage using sportmode/shiftronic.

I've never owned an A/T til now

I've never had an A/T for my personal vehicles...until now. 1) I couldn't get a manual transmission anywhere, 2) I test drove the auto pretty aggressively and felt like it delivered what I wanted. I've only had my VT for a little over a week and 1500 miles but I've been enjoying the A/T. In sport mode it is a blast and I can tell you from some experience that this car will fly past triple digits when downshifting on the highway. I've used the A/T on some of my favorite back roads and it stays in the gear selected through the corners. I haven't autocrossed it yet but I will be doing so very soon and let you all know how that went. I wouldn't hesitate to buy the A/T.

Took my VT in this morning for the splash guard install and while they had it in the shop, they did an update on the ECU regarding the transmission. Haven't driven it enough since to see if there is any noticeable difference.

I wanted an M/T but the wife said no. I am still very happy with the A/T. Seems like a pretty solid unit.

Yea it does. No need to downshift when coming up to a stop. The car does all that for ya
I usually downshift my self since when left to do it by itself, it's too slow or downshifts pretty late and this is regarding my kia forte.
I'm not too sure how it will work in the VT.
