I do not want the panoramic one they offer for many reasons. So has anyone tried a smaller aftermarket one?

That would cost at least 2 to 3 k. Might as well get the option because it comes with much more features than just the panoroof for less. I'd rather have the standard sunroof as well but eh. I never had a panoramic roof. I would get that before asking around how much it would cost to put a aftermarket one in. I doubt ANYONE with a vt has done this and would doubt anyone would.

Before I found the VT that I wanted, one of the local dealers offered to have a power moonroof put in with an aftermarket provider that they have used with success on several cars & SUV's. Total cost was to be ~$1,800. I decided to wait and get the Ultimate package since it came with a lot more add-ons for the $700 difference in cost plus the full factory warranty. Not sure how/if the rust through warranty would apply to an aftermarket cut into the body.

If you're going to do that, go for Webasto sunroofs. They seems to be the best in the business and its what a lot of the dealer's aftermarket companies use (meaning the company the dealer sub-contracts the aftermarket work to).

The panoramic roof is not really a panoramic moonroof. The actual opening of the moonroof section is quite small.

One of my problems with the VT is the lack of headroom. The VT moonroof actually increases the amount of headroom - especially when the cover is open. The mechanism for the moonroof is very complex because it slides the glass up and over the roof, and I doubt an aftermarket moonroof mechanism is going to do anything better. There is a "roll bar" frame member behind the front seats that a moonroof can't get past and has to go over.

Any aftermarket moonroof that routes the roof panels internally has to take a huge chunk out of the headroom - especially in the rear seats.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but it's arrived- No sunroof, but more annoyingly, no turbo!
*plan on trading in for turbo after we save more up more money!
This was -OUT THE DOOR- cut him a check for $17,283 US Dollars
(about $16K before Tax Title Lic. couldn't pass it up, plus she gets to keep her Accord)
Got the 6 speed! It's not a bad car, and I'm averaging 38mpg (mainly all highway)
It's just slower than the Turbo by a full second in the 0-60... :disappointed:
