ok back when i had my tacoma (2003) i kind of had the same problem where i used to stay. I took my truck to a guy who used to do installs w dvds, radios, gps, just electronics. In lame terms the guy set a line from the battery to a switch only i knew where it was located. In other words even if u cross wire or happen to have my key, w/out flipping the switch the vehicle wouldn't start. Thankfully i've never had to test it but it always kept my old gf away from my ride...never told her where the switch was! lmao.

With the proximity key and push button start its going to be a lot harder to steal than most run of the mill vehicles.

Clifford makes good alarm systems. Viper is a sister company of Clifford and also makes good alarms at a little lower price than the Cliffords. I have a Viper alarm/remote start on my truck and it is pretty sensitive. I can hit the A pillar from the outside with the palm of my hand, with decent force, and it would set the alarm off. Mine is just a one way, but they do offer a two way where the remote will let you know if there is any disturbance from a pretty good distance.

Thanks Guys :)

I will call my dealer to see if they have a good alarm and if not I will probably get a 2 way Viper Alarm :)

Thank you guys
Keep in mind the dealer will charge an arm and a leg for that alarm and install. So your best bet is find a very very reputable alarm installer in ur area and go through them. Good alarm installers can get u any alarm u like vs dealers might not and try to sell u what they can

Yeah I know :/ it is just that I have seen all this "professionals" installers working and oh man all they do is cut cables and cut cables :/ I wish someone could recommend me a really good installer.

I think you will need to do the research in ur area for these gems. I know what u mean by "professionals" and you get guys at Bestbuy so called "professionals" and they do a hack job on cars.

Pssst, stay away from Bestbuy lol

Auto theft is rare now with all the serial number tracking of parts and since most new cars can be tracked and disabled remotely. That little fin on top of the VT tells criminals that it can be tracked and disabled remotely. If you are paying for Bluelink you can have your VT turned off and get the exact coordinates of where it is located from your cellphone.

If my VT gets stolen I don't want it back anyway. I've got insurance. I'll convince the insurance company that my VT has been damaged by the thieves and they have to pay for that damage or simply replace it.

If I walk out tomorrow and my VT is gone I'll just call GEICO and have them send me a rental car that I'll drive until they replace my VT. If I'm really in a hurry I'll just call a cab to come get me and GEICO will send me a rental car to where ever I am going that I will drive for a few days until I get a new VT. Having my VT stolen would be little more than a mild inconvenience.

I love my VT too. And when I bought mine the first batch was sold out and I had to do a dealer trade to get a VT MT. It was pretty special when it arrived with only 4 miles on it.

But it's a Hyundai and they are now making a lot more VT's so it can be replaced.

I've never let anyone else drive my VT - not even valets. Near as I can tell since my VT had 4 miles on it it was only test driven at the factory and on and off the trailer.

I had a 1976 BMW 2002 that I was very fond of that was stolen. It had a fancy steering wheel and a hot motor that needed some work. The thief drove the wheels off of it until the motor puked, removed the Nardi steering wheel and crowbarred my dash to remove a $50 stereo. When the police found it I had to go identify it. It was like viewing a body in the morgue. The police were explaining the costs to have it towed and impounded which made me angry. I asked why my stolen car already had a tow charge and wasn't it the Police's responsibility to return it to me.

Their response was glib, "Well you want it back don't you?" My response was succinct, "No, I never want to see that car again. It was destroyed in the theft and since it is evidence in a crime it is now your responsibility. I expect a report from your investigation." They actually laughed in my face. I told them that if I was charged a penny I was going to wear them out to investigate this crime so I knew who to sue for my damages.
