Any Alternator upgrades available?

Topic "car stereo"

Anyone know if there are any off the shelf or custom kit alternator resources available for the VT. I checked a few and it seems they haven't heard of the VT yet. 90 amps rated is kinda low for a 1800 watt rms goal.

While it is low, you can still work with the alternator. Big three upgrade, large power wire, and a strong second battery will easily hold 1800. Unless your listening to some old Lil' Jon, your never really going to be pushing that much.
You will need to climb under there and see if you can't get a feel for the attachment points. You might also be able to discuss the connections with the service department at the dealership. There is a good chance that the stock unit from one of the bigger Hyundais will fit.
i was thinking the same swordfish, maybe a full size class car would bolt up , i think i should be fine with this as i am doing a big 3 upgrade, and maybe an xtra battery too, but really batteries don't help unless you drop below 12.7v and even then they help very little when the car is running. ya i do listen to psyph morrison and 3-6 mafia type stuff soo it does take a beating but i do not play bass tracks or anything with infrasonic frequencies.
Most custom alternators are only active at 2k rpms like any other alternator.

The key is to find someone who knows what they are doing and rewound or wire it so it is high output even at idle.

Must buses and RV's alternators (and I am sure most diesel vehicles) are wound like that. high output at low rpm.

I believe that plus a high amp secondary battery plus the "big three" and MAYBE caps would get you happy with your electrical output for your system.

Well ladies and gentlemen, allow me to introduce the very first high output alternator ever made for the Hyundai Veloster. Its output is 200 amps at 1500 rpms. This will be quite an upgrade from our stock 90 amp alts. My headlight dimming should be less severe now and Im expecting a significant bump in spl. Hopefully I will be installing it this weekend and yes, I will take pics.

In the thread on *****, you'll see this ^^^ Dat stereo..

200amps at 1500rpms? how much are you getting at idle?

saw your build on *****. love it

Are you using the factory radio? And if so what are you using to get your signals to your amp?

LOVE everything what you are doing.
nice, show us the install.
dood i just saw your build.... you change your stuff often. I see you went all out with a fiberglass wall and 4 subs now, nice. I can not hang.. my walk around vid will be up soon. Just a daily budget banger no comps.
Guys, it's NOT mine! Its a member on *****. I included the link. If you want to speak w/ the builder, you'll have to go over there. Sorry if there's any confusion. I just wanted to supply info on the alt as was asked since I knew he did this already.

AW ok. I didn't noticed. sorry.
NP, if you go to his thread tho I'm sure you'll get the info on the alt you were looking for originally.
The hearing loss debate on his build thread is really entertaining.
That's why I stay on this forum. Us blown people are far less uptight. :wankers:

Yep, I hear ya. I even threw a zing or 2 in there myself.

OK, I'll say it now. I initially joined that forum right after I bought my '12 NAV. When I traded that for my VT in April, I came over here but I couldn't stand all of the bashing, bitching etc... so I just stayed where I started (*****). BUT, I found that I get MORE intelligent replies and threads here than there so I figured I give it another shot, so here I am back again.

So where do I sign up to get blown?

It depends on what you mean. I consider it the JV and Varsity forums.... LOL. I just remember & saw it again today the bashing an infighting going on here where I don't see it THAT much there. I get better info here though.
