G'day all,

New member, future VT owner here... I'm about to drop an order on a VT for early next year, and am struggling to pick my colour. I've seen all of them on the road now, with the exception of a VT in the matte Young Gun scheme... does anyone here have one they could post some good pics of? Can never tell what the colour actually looks like on the Hyundai website; for instance Battleship looks pretty good on the website, but frakking awful in the flesh, so to speak. I was going to get the Marmalade, but see that it's not offered anymore and am currently leaning towards Stormtrooper, but like the sound of the matte Young Gun. If only I could see one, there don't appear to be any at the dealerships in Perth!!!

Cheers,
D

Ah, Stormtrooper is white! You better be careful about what you say about colours because you never know who may own a turbo in the colour you describe as frakking awful. I thought Battleship looked ordinary on the website but alright in metal, especially in the sun. I don't know about the long-term durability or resale value of matt paint (I don't like using French grammar rules in English, such as matte is the adjective of voiture (car) en Française).

As with anything, opinion on colour is highly individual, and one should not take offence if someone disagrees with a particular opinion. You like Battleship, I don't. Some people like Holdens, some like Fords. I think both suck, and answer the Holden/Ford question when asked with "Subaru". No need to be careful in stating an opinion. I know Stormtrooper is white, I like white. I agree with you on the durability of matte finishes, and is the main reason I want some more info, although I gotta say there a guy at work here with a matte graphite finished Triumph that is just positively drool-worthy. The VT I test-drove was Marmalade, and I really liked that, but the colour is no longer listed on the website.

Cheers, safe driving!

The first demo I test drove was a matt young gun and the second was marmalade (both were A/T and I wanted M/T). YG Looks really great but the extra care (and extra cost) required put me off. Still have not driven a M/T VT had a go at a standard V with M/T.

Here is a link to the matt finish owners guide http://www.hyundaiusa.com/pdf/Matte_Paint_Care.pdf. Take particular note of the liability waiver at the end of the guide.

Also the factory warranty on the paint is limited to 3 years and does not cover "appearance" (what ever that means). All up it looks fantastic new but I have concerns how good it will look in 3+ years time and you cant use any paint protections on it.

I was tossing up between stormtrooper and red. Ended up going red because I could get it nearly 2 months earlier than a stormtrooper.

Righto, that guide just talked me out of the matte finish  Option one is now Stormtrooper, option two is Veloster Red.

Cheers,

Hi Cloudbase,

FYI - Melville Hyundai have some VT's arriving early in Dec (I secured a red MT with $500 down and subject to a test drive) ... Talk to Brenton, I seem to remember there where 2 more which hadnt been secured yet .. I think they might have been black and red but dont know about the transmissions.

Oh BTW - as of Wednesday they where doing all the pre-handover stuff on a Veloster Red unit ... it may still be there for you to view. It was far from clean when I saw it and it still looked spectacular.

I read about 70% or 80% of Veloster Turbos are automatic, so if you want a manual you're setting yourself up for a longer wait. I picked the Veloster because of the automatic. I had an illness which ended up causing me problems with right leg coordination, so I left foot brake on automatics. The Veloster and DSG Volkswagen GTIs were the only hot hatches in automatic, so I got a Veloster.
