I am definitely going to be, wouldn't bother without coils and a little more pep though. I used to autocross/rallycross in my STI... so much fun going out for a day or two and beating the snot out of your car :)

Yeah, I raced my SRT4 pretty successfully, once they moved the Minis out of my class! I loved it and I had enough seniority to be the radio guy at the flag stations so I didn't have to ruin around all day!

I'm thinking about Auto cross too.

It has been so long since the last time that I Auto crossed that I have no idea what class it is in or what class it would be in if I modified it. From what I remember, once you modify it you have to run with the big boys.

My main desire is just to get to run it on a smooth closed course and spend some quality time learning how to drive it better. For me, the main limitations of the VT are speed limits, other drivers and poor roads. So an Auto cross course would be nothing but fun and finally a place where I can open it up without worrying about getting a ticket or wrecking it.

It will likely be in the same class as the GTI and Focus ST, so I don't expect to win the class. But that is not the point. It would be nice to be the fastest VT driver on the course.

Of all the cars I've owned and the couple I've Auto crossed in the past, the VT is by far the most "Auto cross ready" car I've owned yet.

I think a big part of the VT's charm is that it will be a blast on the Auto cross track without any modifications.

I just went through the 2013 Solo rules online and the VT isn't listed, I'm not surprised to be honest.

The best thing about Auto-X is that you can run any bone stock car and still have a blast. But, it's always tempting and fun to mod the car as well. Just be careful with what you do so you don't end up in a class that requires a ton of mods.

Yeah, the VT makes a solid Stock Legal car.

For every M3 and WRX and GTI in the stock classes there are also scads of Scions and Miatas too that the VT can run against.

Auto crossing is about having fun and the other drivers may talk a little smack but there is a lot of camaraderie there.

There is some pride with having a bone stock car that is competitive and it has been a long time since a truly new car has shown up - as the rules show.

I use to take my Lancer Ralliart out with the Porsche club in DC. It was a blast. They all laughed at me and patted my back to say, "it's okay, buddy. you'll have a $40,000 car soon. you have fun with your little 'bishi."

They were a little shocked when I beat half their times. Stock - other than relocating the battery to the truck.

I like autocross because it puts more emphasis on the driver, not the car.

Nothing beats the grin from seeing feathered tires, too!
