ouch!

snap a photo of the end shape, you can probably find just the connector and then cut back the wire side harness a bit and solder/shrink tube up.

Thanks!! Not a bad idea at all. I will try and find the connector.
I would remove the plug and peel back the tape and get a concise understanding of what you've got.
If the wires aren't frayed or have broken insulation I'd re-tape it back up and go from there.
The picture isn't clear enough to really see the wires at the plug that well. 馃し馃徏鈥嶁檪锔

That is the electrical connection for your EVAP purge valve, not the biggest issue but it will give you a CEL if it isn't functioning, it takes the excess pressure from gas vapors from your tank and recycles them through the throttle body.
