Ive had my VT for about 6 months now and I spend a lot of time in my car for my job and nearly every day Im in my VT I hate the Infotainment center a bit more

1) ALWAYS have to agree to nag screen
2) Bluelink Navigation wont set your POI unless you go out of your way to the maps and hit Agree on the nag screen
3) Cant set shuffle permanently, doesnt save any options
4) The navigation on maps is impossible to use by hand if you are looking for something. the on screen map is awful and doesnt show side streets at all. Cant conveniently zoom in/out when looking at an area.
5) The autostart feature only worked about 40% of the time and I complained to Bluelink and they added all this extra crap to my package that I STILL CANT USE because it fails in the same way the autostart does.
6) Bluelink is expensive, and you have to buy packages in tiers.. I dont use anything but navigation even though it annoys the bejeesus out of me and I cant even buy just that, I have to spend 200$ more to get essentials and assurance which I could care less about.
7) The menus are terrible, clunky, and even basic things you have to go 4-5 menus deep to get to them.
8) Unit uses XM AND Bluelink weather... Why??

All the reasons I wanted bluelink are all the reasons I hate it now.. Great idea, god awful programming, design and support.

Im looking to replace this with a nice unit that I can accept a cellular service so I can just share my Verizon Data plan with it and use things like Google maps, Pandora, and other things. Anyone replace their head? any issues I should look out for?

Alternately, since the whole systems runs within Windows CE, anyone knwo of anyone working on any total mods for it?

i was expecting the issues to be more encompassing of the Head Unit feature set as opposed to more focused on bluelink. I do think the interface is clunky and poorly written. Other than bring a sloppy implementation, it does everything I need it to do without any difficulty. I get POI indicators on my drive when using the non bluelink nav.

All the features of bluelink are pretty much why I bought this car.. and they are so integrated into the headunit that they pretty much make the head unit what it is.. But seeing as how almost every blulink sucks, and some of the headunits most basic features and layouts are terrible, its just a combo aching for replacement..

Orca, you have a pic of your install?

how does the aftermarket interface with the stock speakers and amp?
Should work just fine.
I havent looked at the VT amp yet, but car audio is VERY interchangable. I havent looked at the VT amp to see if it has a manual equalizer, but for the most part as long as you can identify the individual speaker wires and the remote wire you can remake custom harnesses pretty easily or even sometimes find adapters. I just didnt want to dive into this since the VT is still so new unless I knew that it was like most other cars and had universal mounting systems and adapters. Then it just comes down to choosing the right head.

Likely going to take me a while to find one but its just so damned difficult since it takes time to figure out if they can do everything you want. That, and im not a huge fan of the idea of "Dead Buttons" leftover since a lot of the VT's infotainment system uses external buttons..

What about figuring out a way to mount an android tablet in front of the screen and just keep it hooked up over BT or with the aux audio jack? It might be a little kludge-y, but upgradeable/removable

Looks good mate. I'd love to see any more info you have on it. I was just thinking about how cool it would be to have an Android 4.0+ environment running within the car, with Bluetooth and Wifi, maybe even a 3g simcard slot.

Would be very interested in a full review of features and daily driver use.

Yes, but you can generally go into the options is disable it.. I would even see it being on some kind of timer to be acceptable, like once a week or something. But I am a mobile tech and Im in and out of my car 4-8 times a day, and have to deal with that stupid thing EVERY time. I do use the pushbutton blulink Nav thing on my mirror quite a bit but after going all the way through the motions of getting it to find and download my POI, you cant actually see it on the map or start the navigation util you hit the map button and agree.. Totally retarded as the WHOLE purpose was to make this hands free.. and now, after spending 2-3 minutes with the voice navigation download, I have to hit map, agree to the nag, and either choose to dig like 4-5 more screens in to bring up the POI or just hit the call button and do it again.

@VeloT
I cant really tell if that gets rid of the dead buttons or not :-(
Ill have to dig up some more info on it.
