I am looking for people with some 235/40/18s on their stock wheels (with spacers) or 18x7.5"/18x8". My wheels are 18"x7.5" . Really looking for people with a 38mm offset or less with these tires.

I am going to be looking for tires soon. I am running an effective offset of 30mm and am about 10mm or so from being flush. I am not sure if I should go with 225/40s or 235/40s..

235s will have the obvious advantage of more contact patch, help fill the wheel well a little more and protect the wheel more. However, it will raise the car slightly in the process.

225/40 will for sure fit with my effective offset but worst case I can remove my 8mm spacers if the 235s have issues.

I have always liked the meaty rubber look on the tires and having more contact patch/traction when I need it.

I know you can fit 235s on some of the higher offset wheels or stock with no spacers but curious about people with a more flush setup running wider tires.

40 of 235 is slightly more than 40 of 225 from what I understand of tires.
But ever so slightly.

yeah, what they said :p

for example, the 'calculated' sidewalls of each:

215/40= 86mm (3.38")
225/40= 90mm (3.54")
235/40= 94mm (3.70")

Going strictly off calculations (granted each tire manufacturer measures slightly different) the 235 would make the car sit about .42" higher than the stock size tire.

224/40 will raise the car slightly, so will 235/40. HOWEVER, depending on what tires you go with, it might be bigger than you think or no different at all. So don't look at Michelin 225/40 and think your car will raise whatever amount difference it is if you go with 225/40 Bridgestones because I have seen both tires in that same size and I "S" you not, the Bridgestones 225/40 RE050 look like 215/40. While 225/40 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S plus looks like 235/40.

If you think you have about 10mm to be flush and you want to go with 235/40, like you said worse case scenario you can take off your spacers. Because of your spacers you are a bit more flexible with the offset.

ALSO, consider your Revolutions. 215/40R18 @ 60mph vs 235/40R18 @60mph are going to be different.

I got tire size calculator that helps a bunch at work. SO if you have 225/40R18 instead of going 60 you will be going 60.8 and if you have 235/40R18 instead of going 60 you will be going 60.5. Which isn't a lot.

Bro, as long as you are not going to SLAM it you will be fine for what you want. 245 or more is pushing it especially with 40 or higher.

you can go 245/35 OR 235/35 but since you don't like rubber bands and like

BTW for your curiosity:

215/40R18 = overall width in inches (8.46) height in inches (24.77)

225/40R18 = Overall width in inches (8.66) height in inches (25.09)

Which means the difference in width is .39 inches (1.26%) and difference in height is .31 inches (4.44%)

235/40R18 = Overall width in inches (9.25) height in inches (25.43)

Which means the difference in width is .79 inches (2.48%) and difference in height is .63 inches (8.51%)

This guy is running 245/40R18 but his rim is 18x8.5 +50 with no spacers

Compare Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 to the Michelin Pilot Super Sport.

Look at how Michelin rates them next to the tires. It says "Michelin Performance Rating:"
