So I took my VT in today because it seems I do not have the most up to date software for the head unit & I was hoping that was the problem with my bluelink (regardless if the remote start, doors unlocking/locking, i got an email stating try again). I dropped the car off before work & went back after to pick it up.
The service tech told me that I had the most up to date software and the bluelink worked fine for him. I asked him if he got the car to start since I didn't get any notification. He stated no, but he hit the bluelink button and it connected to the satellite just fine, but it may not work as well in Alaska since XM doesn't work. I then had to explain to him the difference between between XM & Bluelink. He didn't know what a CDMA network was or the fact that bluelink uses Sprint. He thought it was all one product.
Secondly, he said my car is brand new therefore there are no updates for the software in the car. I advised him of the fact that when I start my car, it is supposed to say "Veloster" in blue, but I have the old firmware with the red veloster car on it. He double checked & said that there are no updates. I told him that the update came out in June/July and that there was. He checked & found an update for 2012 models but mine isn't included. I had to prove to him that I had an older version of software. Once I got in my car and showed him the version I had, he realized I might be right, but didn't feel comfortable putting the flash drive in without consulting Hyundai to make sure my car was covered.
So I will get to go back tomorrow with my car once he gets the okay. I REALLY hope I don't have any problems with this car because I am scared of the intelligence level at my one and only dealership in Alaska. (not to mention the guy at the customer service counter didn't know the difference between bluelink & bluetooth)
At least my wife & I had a good laugh about it later
