Axleback exhaust for turbo V

Why are there no axleback exhaust systems for the turbo Vs? The factory exhaust is basically a straight pipe all the way to the muffler, so why are we forced to buy that whole piece all over again? I want to keep my factory resonator (and save a little money) , but I want a better sounding and lighter muffler, but all I can get is catback kits when I search.

Please correct me if Im wrong, is there any?

At the very least, the Magnaflow catback puts the muffler where the stock resonator is, so it's a totally different design. But I agree that there's really no reason why axlebacks couldn't have been produced. One was on its way, but I think that earliest projected release date was some time in August.

I'd guess space has something to do with it. Look at the ARK and JUN B.L. exhausts and you see a lot of tight bends needed to get a traditional style muffler to fit in the stock location. Changing all of the pipe routing allows for a better fit (maybe?).

They have them for non turbos, so it can be done. the factory muffler detatches right before the axle, so there is room for any changes. something like the solo desighn would work just fine, all it needs is the flange.
I do wonder what makes the ones for non turbos not work on turbos? Heat?
I went to my local muffler shop and they shyed away from making me a custom one. LOL!

Find a REAL exhaust shop.. the ones who shy away from such a simplistic job as routing you a small axle back aren't real exhaust shops. Well, least not the kind you're looking for. I have a buddy who has just a old 2 bay bucket shop hole in the wall and he would do one no problem if need be for me. One thing that is a small hindrance is the way our muffler is set up, which btw, I would just whack off and y-pipe out to the rear like I did with mine. Sounds superb in my opinion and leaves little to no drone, nice roar, and is almost as quite as stock on idle.

Cost me 65$ to have mine cut off and the y-pipe ($40) welded on for me and I'd be willing to bet you'd be happy with the sound. The big deal is to me is the magnaflow and such are too quiet at WOT. I was unimpressed by the lack of throat to these $500+ exhaust systems. I went with the cheap route and am quite happy, only thing I will be changing about it eventually is when I add a new Downpipe I'm going to go with 3'' all the way out instead of the stock. I'm not gaining any power gains really by using the stock pipin and just ditching the muffler.

All I need is something like this, but in the bigger diameter pipe, I think this is why it will not fit the turbo. These are 2.25 and the turbo is 2.5" diameter. Is this correct?
If you're wanting axle back the turbo diameter sized piping wouldn't make a difference. The car piping out to the tail pipe is 2.25 I'm pretty sure. I'm not sure what size the downpipe runs down to before the resonator and such, but you're wanting axle back which would be at the rear axle where the muffler is and out to the tail pipes. Pretty sure that is 2.25.

There are a lot of factors that go into exhaust manufacturing. A lot of times, a company producing an exhaust will start with the easiest method to produce both power as well as get a better sound. Keeping in mind that resonance and vibration are huge factors and have to be dealt with accordingly. Many times this cannot be done with a small amount of components.

Take my Ark Exhaust for my Optima for example. The full system from Ark has (1) Cat, (2) Resonators, (1) Helmholtz resonator, and (2) mufflers. It is hands down the best exhaust system out of the 6 or 7 that are on the market. It performs the best because the piping diameters are correct and it has almost no drone due to the (3) resonators. Without them, the car is nearly unbearable to drive in. Ark went through 12 prototypes before they put my exhaust into production. I know this first hand as I'm friends with the owner of the original vehicle and we have a very close relationship with ark, especially since we're only 30 minutes away.

While your stock exhaust might perform well, once you add the mufflers, it might increase the resonance in the stock piping adding drone and cabin noise. This would then have to be dealt with by adding resonators and such further up the line. It's kind of a trickle down effect but you can pretty much guarantee that if there were a viable axleback option that was a good balance between power and sound (with minimal drawbacks) that it would be done since they're less expensive to produce and a better price point to sell at. I know there's one from Jun BL I believe, but it's expensive and I've never heard it in person nor have most on these forums I believe.

Now, I'm not trying to sound like an Ark fanboy, it's just an example that I can personally relate and speak to.

I plan on doin what Gerid did. Y pipe that bitch rite to the stock tips. Weight savings and from the videos I've seen, sound nice. Loud at wot and pretty quiet at cruising speeds.

Fuck that overpriced shit thats out there. The can  my balloonot...

We drive Hyundais not fucking Aston Martins...Crooks...:haha:

So the only axle-back we can find is still the Hyundai Canada one? Guess I got a "rare" exhaust system!
