So after tagging my rear bumper on a light pole during our cruise Saturday (no real damage, just a minor scratch), I starting looking into what it would take to upgrade to the stock Parking Assist system......and holy hell... It would require the following:

  • x4 Parking Assist sensors ($91/ea)
  • x4 sensor holders
  • replacement IPM module ($220)
  • Sensor wiring harness ($109)
  • Replacement combination switch module (for lighting control/parking assist, etc)

That is just the big stuff (an easy $800-$1k), plus the IPM is what controls the key fob which means they would have to reprogrammed or repurchased...

Needless to say not something that is going to be happening anytime. I am going to look into nicer aftermarket sets though.

I have 2 aftermarket sets. Obviously not color matched to your car...but I thought about putting them in my front and rear, when... I might only put them in my rear. So, then I have 2 left. I think it was these I bought 2 years ago. Gray, no LED.

Well thanks for the info, HellHunter. If you can provide links to any of those parts, or any more documentation on the system, I'd like to see it. Mainly so we can have people search for it rather than posting threading asking about it in the future.

Well I don't recommend trying to implement the stick system as an aftermarket at all. You'd be better of just trading up for an ultimate. I will post more on a cheaper aftermarket after I conduct more research.
