Hi there.

I am a very new owner of a 2012 veloster. Its the tech model, not a turbo.

The battery sensor wires attached behind the negative side of the battery cables tore loose. To start: does anyone know what exactly it does? Also I've been quoted by hyundai 1500 to replace the entire sensor. I dont need a new sensor, I just need the fuse box that is used to attach the wires to the battery. (it basically slides on right behind the negative terminal) I'd rather do the job myself but unfortunately I can't get the part by itself. Ive also checked aftermarket parts and found some things that look like it but I'm not sure what exactly I'm looking for. Does anyone have any suggestions/information?

just get the part needed from a wrecked car or parts car. Cheap and easy.

used car lots tear out the battery (including all attached wires) as one of the first things they do when they hit the lot.

if they tear out the wires as well then you have shitty lots. Also realize this is easily obtained online as it sounds local may not be an option. Check Car-part.com to see if anywhere with a car listed has what you need. May require some phone calls
