Instead of posting videos in a different thread each time, I will start one to cover the second half of the season. You can view my youtube channel to see any old videos hereabshifflett - YouTube

This is my 4th year in the sport, I started in an 86 Corvette but decided I wanted something more DD friendly which I would not have to work on very often, the VT fit everything I was looking for including my budget. My current set up is for G Stock-Street tire, so I am completely stock aside from Hancock R-S3 Tires in 215/45/17 on MSW Type 22 wheels, weighing around 21lbs each. I have found that I like a tire pressure of 44 up front and 55 in the rear, although I may bump the rear up slightly more next time. I try to run with about 2 bars on the gas gauge, or 60 miles till empty, which allows me to get home without having to fill up right away.

This weekend I had my best finish ever, 19/53 over all (PAX) and 2/10 in my class. I also let a couple experienced driver friends drive the car, all of which were very impressed with the car and none of them thought it had a lack of power. One of these drivers also drove a Focus ST on the same track, while he said the ST felt faster he ended up posting a better time in my car, the ST was on stock tires.

Made a camera mount for the tow hook with some scrap metal and a large bolt from lowes

Here are a couple videos from the day

My best run 44.728 with the tow hook mounted camera-

An interesting angle to see cones flying, and the only way you can hear it with stock exhaust-

Side view-

Playing with the Torque Pro app for Android, wind noise is terrible may want to turn your volume down-

Due to the nature of autocross and the track never being the same, its really hard to tell exactly how much of a difference the tires made. I know with the stock tires I easily went over their limit, resulting in a lot of push and a lot more braking needed. The best I can say is that on a course at the beginning of the year when I had stock tires an experienced driver drove my car and put down around a 41 second time, where the fastest driver in a prepared Corvette ran a 37.3. This weekend I had the same driver drive my car on a similar layout and he put down a 41 second time where the FTD was again set by the same Corvette at a 39.1.
I haven't made any changes to the alignment yet, or added the rear sway bar. I was advised to add some toe out in the front to get a better turn in, but as other drivers were still a second better than me in the same car, I want to try and learn to drive the car to its fullest before making any changes. This will all be done as well as an exhaust after I sell my other car.

Yeah, my GenCoupe is pushing everything in GS-Street Tire to be legal, and really I only have a hard time with the Focus ST. Though, in my region, G-Stock is not popular, we are LOADED with STX and STU though. I'll be there soon, but I'm quite enjoying being the guy to beat this season haha. (2011 2.0t R-Spec)

Did an event today with NASA, the Veloster hasnt been classed for them yet, so I have no clue as to how I compared to my class. It was a very fast course which really favored the higher hp cars. FTD raw time was 51.2 by a C6 Corvette on R-comps and my time was a 57.7. I feel like I did pretty well, definitely had a lot of time left out on track that I just could not pick up on. I am finally learning how to throw the car through the turns with FWD, I think I like this car more and more every time I take it out to an event. No official results have been posted yet, but I was about 2 seconds slower than most of the guys on R-comps, which is right where I want to be on a 60 second course. Here are some videos

Thanks for the videos. AutoX is pretty much like the driver training for PD except a little slower and no section done in reverse, definitely gonna have to do it someday

The understeer really isn't too bad once you jack the tire pressure in the back up, I was expecting it to push really bad but am pleasantly surprised by its on the edge handling.

A couple videos from my best run today, I ended up finishing 1st in my class of 10, 19th out of 60 PAX and 32 out of 60 RAW. I had a hard time while the tires were cold this morning and couldn't get the car to rotate like I wanted until the last few runs.
And my would have been best run, if it wasnt for a cone near the end.

Ok did my first autox with the veloster today. Mods currently are strut tower bar, rigid collars, front camber bolt-2.4.btire pressure was 42 on front and that fixed the seining up front. Back was fixed with 50. The car enough power now since the tires completely and utterly suck. Traction management is priority one. It under steered bad but I think hat was more tire related. Even with the psi as it was it was hard to rotate the rear. It needs a sway and rear torsion bar to keep it flat. Need non leather seat with more bolstering. I slide around more than the car. It was a tight course and the transmission bore most bidet braking so I have to continue evaluation but will need before a real track.
So short list before the next outing is
Tires
Sways
Racing seat
Brake pads, at minimum
Then road Atlanta

Here is my recent videos from this Sunday. I did pretty poorly this time, I was too worried about the car sliding around than I was about driving. The rain didn't have that big of an impact on the cars performance physically, but I pushed it probably 40% of what I normally which slowed me down more than the rain. If you run in an event in the rain, my advice is to keep your windows down, even if they allow you to put them up. I ran with them up, but had to deal with the windshield fogging up as well as not being able to hear what was going on. I only experienced hydroplaning once (0:58 in the video) and that was in standing water. My tire pressure was about 5# lower than I normally run, but the car felt about the same due to the slight lack of grip. If you have a camera mounted outside, you may want to put some wax or rain-x on the case first and dry it off before your run, otherwise you get annoying water droplets that don't go away as easily as you would think (as seen in my video). The rain made for a not so fun event, so I just decided to try out something new with my cameras. I was pretty impressed with my new camera, a $40 Pyle camera which I attached to the front tow hook by its handle bar/ roll bar mount, although the battery is only good for about one day of autocross or an hour running continuously. My go pro is attached to the rear glass facing backwards so you can see the splashing.
