I think I was in denial but after I almost hit a car in the highway few weeks ago, I kind of recognize the VT has some serious blind spots, at least, not as good as my Speed6 used to be.

Do you guys agree?

Haven't used one of this in a while (see attached picture) but bought one today and hopefully will help.

Ill admit the rear view is a tad small but i have no issues with the sides except looking out the passenger side because of the middle pillar. No highway issues though. Good luck with the blind spot mirrors though. I cant stand them. Alot of the newer fords including the mustang have them built in.

Hi there,

Actually, rear view is small but does not bother me. My issue is with the sides.

When I almost hit that car it was coming from my left side, driver seat, but I think the main issue is with passenger side, as you say. I wonder if I should stick that on right side mirror or left side mirror. That thing was cheap, but I bought just one. I wanted to see how it looks before getting the other one.

I guess that the question is where should I stick it: passenger side or my side (left side mirror)

All cars have blind spots. I use those mirrors on both sides and I have a rear view mirror that is over sized a bit with a slight curve which lets me see the entire right side of my car. Using these mirrors I have ZERO blind spots except for the underside of the car ;). With these mirrors I NEVER HAVE TO TURN MY HEAD BACK TO LOOK. Everyone should use these mirrors.

As a motorcycle rider, looking over my shoulder and/or ENSURE no one is behind, is a MUST for me. So I think buying a convex mirror was a good idea anyway. But like I said, the blind spots on the VT are more noticeable than on my previous car.

Having said that, I went for the left side or driver's mirror. That was the side that caused me an issue and being in USA means that on highway, I will certainly changing lanes moving to left lane. Granted, at some point, I need to go right and change lane back again, but right side mirror is actually convex itself so I just adjusted properly so I can see well there.

One of the problems of having an automatic VT is that my wife can also drive my car now. That's positive, she can be the designated driver now and I can have fun at parties, lol ... but every time she drives the VT, she changes the mirror and I need to adjust them back to where they were before. :-(

Ohh well, nothing is perfect in this life.

Driverside for me too, been thinking about buying a pair of those blindspot mirrors myself and putting it on both sides just in case. I'd rather be safe than sorry. And just because I *think* I have all the blind spots covered, I WILL keep looking over my shoulders when changing lanes.

If you adjust both side mirrors to their furthest-out position (and even a manual click or two past the electric adjustment) you will NOT have blind spots on either side. If you do this correctly, once a vehicle coming from behind on either the left or right disappears from your inside rearview mirror, it will appear in the respective side mirror.

Too many drivers have the outside mirrors adjusted too far in so that they can see the side of their own car and only part of the immediately adjacent lane. This is a dangerous mistake. I learned the proper technique many years ago and have never, ever had a nasty surprise when changing lanes. It's a bit uncomfortable and unfamiliar at first but once you adjust you'll never waste money again on those stick-on blindspot mirrors.

Years ago I drove a school bus and also a delivery van with no side or rear windows so learning to adjust, use and trust correct mirror placement was essential. So don't curse the car...learn and use the correct mirror adjustment and you'll become a believer.

I've been resisting putting these on because I feel like they reduce the "cool" factor a little. But the driver's side blind spot is so bad. When I shoulder check, where my seat is, theres only like a little sliver of that rear window to see out of...

Blind spot mirrors were a day 1 purchase for me.. somewhere here I have a small thread about it along with vent visors and the cargo mat...
Had em on my Blazer, Bravada and Durango.. Never knew how much I needed them until I got my VT

Me too, from dealer to pep boys. I'm a mirror addict. I am also a clean window freak. My windows are crystal clear at all times. People don't realize how important clean windows are. Even the moonroof.

I don't have a problem with blind spots on my VT. But I run my sideview mirrors pretty wide - to the point that I don't see the side of the car anymore. There is almost no gap between the rearview mirror and the sideview mirrors when you do this.

I still do the over the shoulder check most of the time though. The passenger side visibility is surprisingly good and the driver side is OK but not that good.

Hopefully a new version of the Veloster/Elantra/Forte will have blind spot detectors and we can adapt them in the future.
