So I put a boost gauge on my 16 VT this weekend and think I may have tapped a vacuum only line? It shows about 10 mmhg vacuum when I am maintaining speed after about 15 seconds cruising, but other than that usually reads zero. Has never shown boost. I tapped the line after the valve on the one that comes from the throttle body that heads down below the firewall somewhere. Is that valve keeping this line from building boost? What's the line I tapped for / go to?

PS. Where the F does that recirculation hose go to from the blow off valve everyone pulls to get choo choo noises? It would be nice to do something better than leaving it hanging there.

Thanks so much!

I believe you would need to tap before the valve if you want to use that as your vacuum source. That valve is the EVAP Purge Solenoid, https://www.samarins.com/glossary/purge-valve.html, there is probably a built-in check valve to prevent pressure being pushed back into EVAP system.

As for the BOV recirculation hose, you could just disconnect it from the BOV. No real reason to keep it connected.

Yep, after looking at that diagram that's exactly what it is. The line I tapped runs right to the canister in between the vent control valve. So I guess the purge condition is when cruising at speed for a bit.

But the line going down should carry actual vacuum / boost at all times, right? Any other good lines to tap?

Where does that recirc hose plug in? Under that box that says turbo on it?

Tap between the valve and the throttle body if you want to do it the cheap way for boost/vacuum. Ofcourse the cheapest would have been by using an obdlink reader and a phone/tablet and had more gauges, more accurate, and more usefulness.

The BOV tube can be removed. Just take off the airbox and snorkel piece to access easier to remove. You may need some big pliers to remove it.

Gotcha. Yeah, I'm just not a fan of having to use my phone as a gauge. I like something more permanent. But thanks for the help everyone! Never thought to try and trace that recirc down without the snorkel...duh. should've thought of that haha.
