My car (VT 16' DCT) has about 50,000 miles on it. I bought it new from the dealership in Russellville, AR with 16 miles on it. Everything has been great with the car until here recently. When I'm driving down the road in about 3rd gear the turbo starts to flutter/surge/stutter at about 4-5k rpm and then sometimes goes into limp mode. When in limp mode it lets me drive it at a maintain speed but does not let me accelerate like it should and can't hear the turbo. When I turn the car off and back on it resets it back to normal but still get this surging noise when giving it about 2/3 of throttle.
I've tried to see through my OBD2 reader to catch the Fuel Flow to see if it gets restricted at the times it starts to surge and don't see anything. Boost vacuum seems normal as well. So I'm not sure what the issue is.
I've read on threads/forums that it could be a High Pressure Fuel Pump, kink in the fuel line, BPV solenoid torn, maybe something to do with the waste gate?
No CELs are being shown or thrown even when it goes to limp mode, so can't check it for the issue.
Attached is a link of a 2013 model having the same issues. Mine sounds exactly like this, and you can feel the turbo boost going up and down quickly.
I have the life time power train warranty, but wanted to get opinions before my scheduled appt on June 13th. (Hyundai Tech won't be back from vacation until then)
Also need to know if it's safe to drive until my appt. Car isn't affected until I try to get on the throttle a bit.
Please help if you can.
