As a preface I have a ‘16 VT that is stock(except for 1 thing) I’m also a newbie so bear with me?

So I just put in a cone filter in replacement for the stock air filter for the noise. I like it but the throttle acts much differently. What’s the reason for this? Also should I get a tune to compensate? Reset the ECU? My car is completely stock except for the filter. Kinda just looking for help here since I’m jumping into this quickly and I’m definitely a newbie. Maybe should’ve asked questions first but oh well.

Or should I have gone with a CAI?

I'm also looking to install a BOV at some point. I’ve decided on the forge (unless someone convinces me otherwise), so is there anything I should take into consideration when doing this? Where certain pipes go, install tips, etc.

The more I look into this stuff the more I'm confused so I figured I'd start asking questions before I mess something up.

Lower rpms up till about 3k and above around 4k feel normal, but around 3k the car vibrates much more than I remember. It feels hesitant to accelerate around there as well and the intake sounds like it's stuttering as though it's struggling to suck in air. Once I pass above around 4k the stuttering and vibrating goes away and the intake just gets quieter as rpms increase. In general it just acts weird between 3-4k rpms.

That's exactly what my 13 had on it from the previous owner when I got it in 14. It got repo'd and I was lucky enough to be in Florida the day after it was up for sale. I never had any problems like what you're describing, though. Eventually did get a CAI a few years back and aside from being a little louder and quicker response. Again, nothing like what you're experiencing. Any way you could upload a short clip? I don't have any ideas of what the issue is from the description. Have you tried reverting to stock to see what happens?

I tried reverting back to stock. Seems like 3k is justs vibrates more than lower/higher rpms? It is an automatic so it could be just the nature of the car. My guess is the intake just added power to lower and higher rpms as it claims to do, making mid rpms seem slower to me. I could upload a video if you'd like, but I'd have to reinstall and do it. I'm just gonna keep it stock till I get the full piping for a CAI or SRI. The intake I have is illegal in my state of California anyways :/
