Hey guys just a quick step by step of possibly the simplest thing in the world, Make your BPV a BOV

First pick up some Bypass caps from your local autozone/advanced:
Green Technology Electronic device

Then find the hose that routes from the BPV back into your Intake, Pull it off and shove one of the bypass caps on it!
Auto part Engine Fuel line Pipe Exhaust manifold

Then throw an E-Z hose clamp on it (so its easy to put back on for dealer trips:
Auto part Metal Engine Fuel line Muffler

Then overheat your phone making a video for VT.org:

Then you get this:

Total time to mod: ~3 min.. and $4.

MOD EDIT: Massage from our friend Khyber with something that is very important to this diy mod.

DO NOT PUT A FILTER ON THE HOSE NO MATTER WHAT UNLESS YOU LIKE BLOWING UP STUFF LIKE YOUR TURBO AND PAYING MONEY, THEN GO AHEAD. ANYTHING THAT GET'S IN THERE WILL BE BLOWN OUT WITH A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF FORCE....... UNPLUG THE HOSE OR LEAVE IT OPEN OR HOOK IT UP TO THE INTAKE :-D

awesome!! now people can see how truly easy (and cheap it is) to make the BPV a BOV.

You can even save a couple more bucks if you just went and found the one cap you needed.

Also, if the bypass cap fits on there quite tight, there is no need for the hose clamp as pressure isn't going through the intake.

I think I spent more money on the zip ties to hold the phone under the hood haha

From someone else who had this setup for a couple days, the open BPV sounds almost exactly the same as the forge BOV. just keep that in mind if you are only in this for the sound!

wow. i am surprised at how good it sounds. great job. good info for the forum
And the amount of annoying things you can do for car shows is endless with that hose hanging off:

Is there another reason to do this mod except for the sound? I suppose yours would look cooler with the actual BOV.

Retsolev - How did you secure the hose that was pulled off?

I havent yet, it doesnt go anywhere, but you can easily buy a speed clip and slip it over the hose clamp as well as the end of the hose.

Not sure if the purpose is the same, I am going to say it is, but my supercharger kit on my S had a bypass valve and the reasoning was to send the extra pressure back into the intake so that there is "extra power" there instead of venting it and the charger having to pump more pressure in. To be honest, I couldn't tell a difference when I vented to atmosphere vs. back in the intake.

Nahhhhhhhhh, with the VT the only time the BPV lets anything through that hose is when you let OFF the power. cant see you needing more air going through the intake when you arnt giving it gas. I think its more of an emissions thing ;)

I believe it was not for "extra power", but I think it was for decreasing lag for turbochargers. Although a supercharger shouldn't have that issue to begin with anyway.

And for engines that require a maf, the back to intake was to prevent the car from bad idling or engine shutting off when coming to a complete stop. MAP engines will not have that issue, but it should still help with decreasing lag.

it is not blocking off air coming into the intake really, it is just blocking off the port where the bypass used to dump INTO the intake.. By recirculating, it kinda helps keep the turbo spooling when you shift and is mainly done that way to keep it quiet from the factory.
