What brake fluid is everyone using? I will be doing my first HPDE in this car next month and still have the stock fluid for now, but have run ATE DOT 4 fluid in my other cars. I know not many people here have tracked their cars, but to those that have- did you experience and fade or boiling toward the end of a session? For autocross it has been fine, im just skeptical for a full track day.

im assuming ATE super blue/gold would work fine for these cars and their weight. go with gold if you can find it. the blue will stain your brake fluid resevoir. used this with good results in all my previous lighter cars. the gtr boils this thing like its no ones buisness. lol. but if your not tracking it, i doubt you will notice a different between this and stock.

We use both blue and gold and rotate them every change, so we are sure all the old fluid is out. Never had a problem with staining before. I know the car would be fine with it, just didnt know how necessary it was to change. With the Corvettes that im used to, dot 4 fluid is a nessecity.

Any reason you ditching the Motul? I have always liked their products.
buddy of mine used to run the 600, and kept boiling it (hes quite aggressive on the brakes at the track). tells me he likes the endless fluid alot better, and that its impossible to boil. so figured id give them a try. im not sure about others... but im always looking for excuses to upgrade something.. almost cried when i had to pay 400+ for new brake pads for my track day next month. but also remember, i am trying to slow down a 3900 pound car with 500+hp. everything overheats lol.

Does anyone have a capacity number for a brake fluid change? The service manual just says "as required." Crap on that. I know a bunch of have changed your brake fluid out when upgrading to Pierce's SS lines.

Our tax dollars at work!
My thoughts exactly. I switch between ATE amber/blue after every track day on my Subaru.

Just ordered ATE Gold, I would rather just change it out than to worry about having any fade at 100+mph
I went to Summit point first time with stock brake fluid, pads, and rotors. I experienced brake fade in second lap when I pushed the car a little harder; brake fade is a very scary feeling, even in a controlled environment. To me, experiencing brake fade is equivalent to free falling :haha:. Then I put StopTech rotors and pads, Goodrich SS lines, and replaced brake fluid with ATE type 200. Difference in stopping power was immediate and very little to no fade. Only disappointment was that brake pedal in WRX still feels soft, when compared to VT's brake pedal feel. But my best upgrade on WRX was sticky summer tires with stiff side walls.

Motul any good?
Motul is good but expensive when compared to ATE. If your VT is on the track every weekend, I'd say spend your $ on Motul, but for occasional track days ATE is plenty.

What course were you on? On the Shenandoah I didn't experience any brake fade at all through the whole day, that was with ATE Gold. The main may be a little bit harder on the brakes at points, but fade on the second lap seems a bit extreme even with stock fluid.
