Hey all! Since the Veloster turbo is the first car that I have bought brand new for myself, I want to be sure to protect it. Does anyone have any suggestions for car covers to protect it from sun/ the elements when I have it parked at my house? One of the most important things about a car cover for me is how easy it is to put on and take off of my car. If it is too cumbersome or time consuming, I can see myself getting lazy and not using it, which I don't want to happen. I would appreciate any suggestions!

I don't have any suggestions, but I think another consideration is to be careful putting a cover on a car if it isn't clean. Dirt/dust can get ground into the paint and cause scratches if it's getting pushed around by a cover coming on/off.

Its a double edge sword. Are you gonna make sure the car is fairly clean everyday before you put the cover on? I'll tell you one thing, you won't be putting that on in the middle of winter with a pile of snow around it. I think your best bet is to just keep it clean and use a good wax a few times a year. If you have a touchless car wash nearby, visit often, especially in the winter when it gets above freezing.
I have had many cars and used covers on some, didn't really make a big difference in the long run. You'll still get a fine coat of dust under the cover, which kind of defeats the purpose.

I got a universal cover for my very first car about 12 years ago. I used it for maybe 2 weeks before it became a pain in the ass. ESPECIALLY after it had rained...

Unless you are storing a car for more than a week at a time I would not bother with one. The best way to protect it is to keep it clean and a solid wax job every 6-12 months depending on how bad the weather is.

You have to be 100% committed to putting it on and off. I had one for 2 cars and most of the time, actually 98% of the time, the cover sat in my trunk. Like turbofist said, have it throughly waxed a few times a year and invest in a California duster to touch it up in between washes.

I've owned a few, a couple of which were in the $250 range. If you don't drive often, they're great. Perfect for a collector car. For a daily driver, you have to get the dirt off before you put it on. Then, you have to wash the cover every so often. On a Veloster, it's a waste because the paint Hyundai uses is awful is going to get chipped to death on the road anyway.

if you see yourself getting lazy, then car cover is not for you. i'd usually only use one when i need to store it someplace for an extended period of time. i too want to protect my car, which is why even though i only live in an apartment, i chose one with a [tiny] garage when i moved before i got mine. lol.

Thanks alot for the input guys. I think you definitely helped me to save some money. I know that I will be keeping up on cleaning and waxing it, and that seems like a better solution that a car cover

i wouldn't ever put a cover on unless I cleaned it then immediately put it on.... I worked with a guy who drove a jag years ago and always put his car cover on in the parking lot at work EVERYDAY... needs to say, it looked like crap... it has to be spotless or it will tear the car to shreads over time. Once it's on, leave it on.

I couldn't imagine not having a garage though but not feasible for everyone unfortunately.
