Cars you're considering POST VT.

This throws a little wrench into things. I'm not even close to considering getting rid of my VT, but I am non stop looking at new cars coming out. Unfortunately I usually keep my cars around two years because I just get bored with them and need something new. There becomes a point where I feel that I've done everything I can do just short or turning it into a track car, and just want to start the modding process over. I'm sure there are others out there like me so I thought I'd open this for us to talk about cars that are grabbing our attention in a positive way. I do think I will be able to keep my VT well beyond the two years, but I always seem to surprise myself with the decisions I make .

The car that has caught my eye recently is one that normally never would, but price for performance is unreal. I was wandering through a ford dealership looking to see if any fiesta ST's had arrived yet (not at all interested in purchasing a fiesta) when I saw a whole row of mustangs. They had a lime green with black stripes up the front and 5.0 on the side that caught my eye. I was think for sure $45k+ based on just looks and performance, so I was completely shocked to see a sticker of $33k. 420 horsepower and the great new looks of the new body...I couldn't believe it. I've ragged on American cars many times but I'm not one to dislike any car just based on manufacturer alone. Making the new mustang front ends look like Shelby's was an awesome move, and also black tails stock adds a nice touch. The one major thing that really makes it something I wouldn't buy, is the fact that you see a ton of them, well, because its a mustang. But honestly even if they were the same price, I'd pick a mustang over a corvette all day long. Corvettes are what they are to me. I like the sleeper aspect so the cars i own usually aren't extremely fast from the factory.

All this being said, what cars out there/coming out do you look at as possible candidates at stealing you away?

I plan on my next car being a white Gen Coupe 3.8 MT R-Spec...I like the American muscle scene too but as you said they are everywhere.
I totally get your modding obsession rb, I've done some work to everything I have ever owned-I can't leave anything stock. I go crazy reading forums, looking up aftermarket parts, buying stuff for something when I first get it, then the newness wears off and I'm off to another project. My latest is a 94 ECSB Chevy truck that I want to straight front axle and put on 40s...we'll see.

Right now I'm still to much in puppy love with the VT to really be giving anything serious consideration. But, I imagine I'll be hankering for RWD (again) for my next car... but I also know that my living situation will be totally different, so what I end up looking for will depend vastly based on what country we are in at that point.

I don't think I am going to give up my VT until it breaks down or 5 years from today passed by. I'm going to track it during its youth, then a DD towards its elderly stages lol. I'm going to buy an R6 or CBR600RR. That's going to be my toy, along with my VT. If I get really into tracking my car, might get a miatta.

Sorry for that lol. What car would I get after VT? Probably another VT lol. I would consider a Gen or 370z.

Haven't even given it thought. I'll keep this car at least 5 yrs & if it holds up well, I'll garage it & save it for my son :) I kept my Protege5 Speed for 200K original miles & my s10 had 180K before I put a 350 in it :) The other day I was behind an old 90's MR2 when it hit me...Imagine the VT rear wheel drive, with the motor in the rear?! (2.0T)

I was looking at the VT a full year before it's even released, and my views still hasn't changed. There's just nothing else I can compare it with. For what I will shell out for a new a car, I'd rather use the money on mods. It's just too early for a new car. If I'm getting a second car though, I'd get the Santa Fe Sport.

I would be a Mazda not for their looks but their reliability, the new Mazda 3 hatchback looks like a baseball cap. only car I would consider for myself is a newer VT, maybe a '15/16 unless something revolutionary comes out. im very happy with the VT and hope its a car line that is here to stay for a while.

I think it is hard to talk think about what car I would buy post-VT. I mean if you had asked me 4 years ago when I was driving around in my Mustang GT what car I would buy after I had gotten rid of it I guarantee that my answer would not have been Hyundai Veloster Turbo. This is obviously because 4 years ago the veloster platform didn't exist. Who knows what vehicles will come available in the market in the next 4 years.
