I just changed the stock tires to Kumho ECSTA 4X. This set is 225, a bit wider.

While I've only put a few miles on it, the steering wheel response and road feeling increased considerable, since the min I started the car.

Now, I understand these set is still "virgin" so I won't comment on actual performance and grip; I prefer to put 1k miles at least before making a comment on that regard. However, I like the tire's thread, even the wider tire makes the car looks more appealing, at least to me.

Why not Michellin? well ... 1k is kind of too much for a set of tires. I know tires and brakes are key on any car, but after reading some reviews I am convinced that I can get decent performance for a fraction of the price with the Kumho 4X instead.

The stock Kumho Solus were not bad, but they feel "numb" to me. I put only 600 miles on it but I cannot feel the road the same as I can with these ones. They are ok for someone that drive extremely conservative or want to save gas. As a matter of fact, if someone is interested on the whole set, PM me ... ;-) ... need to release that space from my garage.

this is the tire i keep trying to push people to for this car and IMO the tire that should've came stock.. not to mention .. IT'S CHEAPER FOR A SET OF 4X THEN THE STOCK TIRES LOL

I put up a whole review on them a while ago....they are a bit heavier than Conti DWS but great for Summer ......forget winter they are like MIch,s NOOOO grip. Chazz

The DWS looks like the overall best tire for cold climates where there can be a lot of snow at times. Plus, they're not expensive.

they're actually on sale at discount tire 116 i think per tire but they're having a 125 mail in rebate right so it came out to like 380 shipped for me or less .. they have free shipping

How do the 225s work out? Do they have the protective lip by the rim like the 215's do? How much taller are they?

they work great and they sit flush with the rim.. so more protection... the stock rim protection is a joke..

When you guys pick your tires for handling and such, is estimated treadwear life much concern to you (as in 300 vs 420, not mileage)? Or you know that when you purchase performance tires, you will be changing them more often than someone with non-modded Camry tires anyways, so it doesn't matter?

I'm just curious because I do care, and If I can get 420 instead of 300 or less with comparable specs and price, I'm happy.

I honestly don't care about thread life or mpg, but better grip. They covered the rim perfectly and look fantastic.

By the way, just came from Corpus Christi , short Memorial Weekend getaway, and these tires are good. Gave me awesome mpg (32 mpg average) and they are quiet, with good grip.
