No Ty, all under warranty. I was jus explaining the costs of a flywheel (dual mass) specifically for our car.

I wonder what the failure mode would be on that part. The sound kind of suggests to me it was cracking around the bolts. Possibly defective, but also makes me wonder about installation error.

Ha!

So my service lady tried to tell me that my 75a motor mount would have voided my warranty work on my flywheel if they hadn't seen it before they started the repair work.

Mind you this is my 2nd flywheel under warranty as I've said this before, but they never mentioned anything about my motor mount before.

Apparently the mount causes excessive vibrations which causes my flywheel to fuck up. I didn't have time to go back n forth. But yea...

anyone can correct me if I am wrong here... but that absolutely makes ZERO sense... the transmission and motor are connected to each other directly (obviously) and the rear motor mount connects that engine/tranny assembly to the frame of the car.

The motor, through the normal process of operations, creates "vibrations" (her words in this case).... those vibrations would not be changed no matter what the motor itself was attached to. The "excessive vibrations" are felt in the car due to a lack of dampending between the motor and the mount. The mount bushing itself does not creat any additional vibrations in the motor or the tranny...

MOREOVER... it would actually stand to reason that the motor and tranny are vibrating LESS because they are held tighter in place (an example of this would be to put a palm sander on a workbench and turn it on... it would bounce all over the place. Put the palm sander firmly in your hand on the same workbench and it's movement is less eratic)

I would have lost my shit on that lady

The motor mount does soak up some driveline motion/tq upon accel/decel and times of traction gained/lost. This motion/tq causes things in the driveline to fatigue over time and break. Something like wheel hop or sudden traction gained/lost causes clutches to slip, axles to break, trans housings to break/crack, etc. All have happened in the VT already.....

He was basically told in a nice way that they will not replace it again for him knowing the mod was on the car.

Okay, is it me or has anyone else notice a trending of problems with Hyundai DCT? They been out for more than 2 years, you would think that almost all the bugs would have worked out by now.

Eh, wouldn't surprise me if she did. Ty's metaphor would probably backfire on most people, since gripping a sander too tight will make your arm hurt, and that must be bad. lol.

I'm still stuck on the fact that *something* made two flywheels fail. I wouldn't place my bets on two defective units. Whatever installation error or tolerance issue wrecked two will likely destroy a third.

Regardless of her garbage logic, he was running a tune and now has had his flywheel replaced twice. He should breathe a sigh of relief, say thanks and move on.
Never ran a tune ever, jus had a spare ecu tune that never got utilized.

They'll always say what they can to mess with you I guess. With the place I dealt with I'm pretty sure they'd try to void my warranty because of an aftermarket grill if they could. Probably something about how it made the intercooler work too well, engine made too much power and messed up the dual mass fw.

Even though mine is a manual, i'll definitely be picking up a single mass flywheel when I change out the clutch.

This shit got worse! Smh, another vid of my shit str8 clunking at the end when i turn off my car.

So it's been about a week or 500 miles since i got my flywheel replaced.
I'm still getting the same clunking/clicking sound smh.

The only thing I would say gas changed is my start up. She sounds brand new when i start her up, but when i turn her off, the clunking gives me heebeegeebees.
