Well for starters, the short ram is a lot easier to install as it doesn't require removal of the front bumper like the cold air would. Also, the power gains from the cold air are not significantly more than the short ram if much at all. I installed the Injen short ram intake myself in 30mins tops and I'm not an experienced car mechanic in the slightest bit so I can safely say the difficulty level is pretty low. Short ram also costs less...

Do look at the SRI/CAI thread. I was not sure which one I wanted, so, I bought the Injen CAI and installed it in SRI config first. I drove that for about a month then pulled the front bumper and installed the additional pieces for the CAI. My main goal with the change was to reduce the intake of hot air from the engine compartment.

I have the same injen set up and installed it as a cold air, however I'm not feeling the gains I was hoping for. Did you notice any power differences with the short ram setup?? More/less/same? Thanks in advance!

Did you notice a difference in performance with the SRI?? Please let me know.. I went through the trouble to install the CAI but I'm not as satisfied as I hoped. I know CAI's are supposed to be better on turbo-ed cars but since this is a low hp vehicle do you think the SRI might be more responsive and eliminate any drag through the tubing?? You're the only person I can find online who has experienced both SRI and CAI from injen.. Would really appreciate your feedback.

Anyone with an opened up former IC spot, as in either the 845 or TS FMIC's will experience drastic gains from the SRI into a 3.5. This is because it will have direct in line fresh air access from where the IC used to be.

Any large CAI done in the GODZILLA format with the Jetman fog-light delete mesh will experience significant improvement.
I've had both renditions in GODZILLA fashion,.....my SRI now is ridiculous.

CAI vs SRI is usually based on what you personally want. There are going to be slight variations from the two, but not so significant to need to choose one over the other. An intake by themselves is not going to give you huge gains. For the best power gains, an intake, downpipe, exhaust, and tune. The tune is what will pull everything together and really help you get the most out of your mods. Take a look at what we have on our website Welcome | DamnFastDD.com

Ive heard it discussed that the CAI makes slightly less power

HOWEVER, that slight difference may be made up for in the hot summer months here in Texas with the heat difference. So it may be best to have the CAI extension for when the summer hits hard and swap back to SRI in the cooler, boost friendly months

^ This. I have noticed that as we have started to warm up in VA, that there is a lot of radiant heat in the engine compartment at idle. Haven't really noticed a drop in performance when moving, but you bring up a good point. My only fear is the rampant flooding that occurs in my neck of the woods this time of the year. But I think you are on to something here.......I like it!
