Possibly very small leak. Clean it well, fill coolant to the F mark, crank the car and let it idle until the fan comes on. Then drive a few miles and check the hose for leaks again. You may or may not need a new hose. Sometimes cleaning the oem hose or moving it a little fixes any leaks.

Yes fill up the reservoir to the F mark with distilled water is fine. Do this after you try to fix the hose as you will lose some.
