I am really learning to HATE all the electronics on new vehicles.

Yesterday, when I removed my BPS to make sure the flange we made fit, I forgot to hook up the sensor and got on the road..

The BOV wouldn't open..

Why, it is simple.. The stupid BPS must electronically activate a servo or w/e to allow the BOV to even get the vacuum to pull it open..

I don't understand how this is more simple that just having the BOV hooked up to a vacuum/pressure source and as soon as it gets vacuum it pulls open o_O

Obviously, without the BPS hooked up, we would probably throw a CEL but I am wondering if the performance of the BOV would be better hooked directly to a vacuum source instead of routed through this silly system where is can't even open without the BPS being hooked up.

I just think the BOV would be more sensitive and responsive if it was hooked directly to a vacuum source instead of needing the BPS to tell it when to open. Even if you kept the BPS hooked up and routed the vacuum line right to the IM instead of how it is hooked up..

Any thoughts?

It is easy to forget that damn modern cars like the VT get 125hp per liter, 37mpg and have a 100k warranty. They do this with lots of sensors and electronics and closely integrating the direct injection with the variable valve timing and the turbo wastegate servo.

If Hyundai switches from the Kia Koupe to the VT for the Continental Cup racing it would be very interesting to see how the 1.6l turbo motor could be let off of its leash.

haha.. not real scary. I am used to things like that when I screw around with cars.

Also, BOV's are really not THAT important, especially to only have that happen a couple times before being fixed.

the sensor is there so the ecu can monitor its flow and make sure it is working correctly. This way it can throw a cel if it is not. So yes if you disconnect it it WILL throw a cel as it knows its supposed to release pressure when seeing other parameters.

however...one the reflash is available (like on the gen coupes) this option can be eliminated and bypassed (you can actually, once your in the ecu, click and check which pids you want to set a CEL.... A hose can then be hooked directly up to the manifold and you will have the pressure reading directly from the source.

You could probably just run with the cel
