Daylight Running Lights

Does the VT have standard DRL's? If so, can you remove a fuse or somehow get them to be on with ONLY the LED's on instead of the whole headlight?!? If you have to turn them on manually every time you're in the car then that solves it right there.
A curious mind would like to know... Thanks in advance to the feedback!

Kinda forgot about this. There is a DRL fuse location in the cabin fuse box. The engine compartment fuse box located beside the airbox doesnt have a DRL relay or fuse. Pulling the cabin fuse doesnt turn the DRL off like it has in pretty much every other car Ive tried it on.

I have however noticed that when the DRLs are on and you signal a turn, that side DRL goes out while the signal is flashing. Leads me to believe the DRLs are connected to the signals some how and possibly not defeatable unless you mess with the signal too.

I dont mind the DRLs, they are just a very pale yellow colour compared to the LEDs. The DRLs use the highbeams on low power. Changing the high beam bulbs to something around 7500K and they will match the LEDs.
Just checked and the high beam bulbs are in a separate housing so it might be the low beam bulbs on low power.
Low beams are the projector lamps.
On mine:

DRLs are on with all switches turned to off.
First setting keeps DRLs on and adds LEDs
Second setting turns DRLs off, LEDs stay on and turns on projector low beams (and fogs if left switched on)

Only way I have found so far to get just the LEDs on is to turn the switch to first position and pull the emergency brake up 1 click. When emergency brake is pulled to 1 click position, the brakes don't engage but the DRLs will turn off leaving only LEDs. If someone would like to pull their center console apart, maybe they could locate the switch that controls the DRLs operation???????
DO NOT try the hand brake in the 1st notch
it pulls the pads close enough to the rotors that u do not feel it dragging, but after you drive for about 2 mins you will smell the brakes starting to cook
i tried it
i was shocked when i could smell it going 65 mph

not trying that trick again
I just got my vt today. I ran it in the "auto" position during the day and no lights went on? Are there supposed to be drl's in the auto position?

DRL's turn on as soon as you release the hand brake. It might be that DRLs aren't required where you bought your car or that there's an issue with the DRLs in your car. Here in Canada DRLs are required by law, check your local laws and if they are required there talk to your dealer to get them working.
Does anyone have a fix for just running the LEDs on the headlights? I don't really want to be driving with my parking lights on all the time - but that's the only way to turn them on without the low-beams.
Just to chime in... I don't have DRLs.
I'm in the USA & bought my VT from a USA dealer. The sticker says I'm equipped with DRLs. My insurance gives me a discount for having DRLs.
I don't actually have DRLs though. With the switch for headlights off, car is in gear, hand brake is off, there are no lights on on my car.
This actually doesn't bother me, like others here, I like driving around with only the LEDs illuminated.
Next time I go pick up my sales woman for drinks I guess I should drop in the garage and see what they think.

You can attach the + wire for theLEDs to a 12v power source that comes on only when the car is on, in a fuse box somewhere. But then you'd lose the ability to turn them off if you wanted to. This essentially turns them into DRL's.

Thanks - mostly because I don't want the tail-lights lit up if it's during the day.
If the LEDs could simply be rewired to be DRLs that's not too big of a deal. However, the problem I have is that the existing LEDs are NOT bright enough in the daytime (especially when it's sunny) to act as DRLs. They are barely visible from 25m+ away. I don't know if you'd get into any trouble for trying to run them as DRLs like that.

To be safe, they should be almost as bright as the Audi or BMW-style lights.

I am very happy with the brightness with my LED kit from exLEDSHOP. It is super bright and at night the led's alone light up the surroundings, just not out in front of you, lol. I'd say that you'd definitely
be able to see mine during the daytime. When I get my camera back I'll take some shots and show them to all. Night, Day, turning, etc...

That's great to hear. I actually just received mine the other day (just the eyeline and angel eye) and will eventually install it to get the LEDs to be bright enough to be DRLs. The stock ones leave much to be desired and unfortunately doing this will require me to have to go through that whooole process of opening the headlights and stuff. I could get a 'pro' to do it but that'd be expensive too, but still less than replacing the whole headlight assembly.. although they do look really sweet
I'm in the US, and I just leave my lights on the first position. (LEDs ONLY). When I start the car, the LEDs are on, and when I turn the car off and lock it with the key fob the lights go off.

Side note.... did you do any additional modifications or is that how the exLEDSHOP lights come? I'm looking to brighten up the LED strip in the headlight and get rid of the yellow/orange corner plate.

The exLED custom headlights come with the yellow/orange corner plate removed. That assembly is exactly as it comes from exLED. The only difference is that VeeTee's also got HIDs running in there.
Unfortunately, the reflector piece itself cannot be bought by itself. We have tried to buy just that piece from Hyundai MOBIS and their answer was always no. Because of that, IF you wanted to change that out, you'd have to buy a foreign version headlamp (= NOT from Canada or US) and use that. Or you could try to just remove the orange reflector, but then you'd have no reflector.

In this particular picture I do NOT have the HIDs hooked up yet and the headlights aren't actually on. This is JUST the LED's talking, err, I mean, shining.

Does anyone know which of the 10 wires for the headlight plug you need to tap into for the LED's?
Check here for the TURN + and TURN - wires.
??? ??? ??
Thanks VeeTee! That certainly helps!
