So my VT is now a week old and I love her to death. I've got one problem, whenever I walk towards her, that nasty looking dealer badge sticks out like a sore thumb on my lift gate. Mind you, my dealer was of great assistance and they are the best, but still, that badge just throws off the beauty of the car. I was wondering how I can take this badge off without ruining the paint finish or scratching it. That badge is on there good LOL. Please throw some ideas.

Cheers!

I had the dealer take his badge off my VT.

He said they had to use a heat gun to get it off.

I wouldn't try that myself for fear of burning the paint.

They gave me no static about removing the badge.

I'm sure they have plenty of expertise regarding removing their badge.

What brass to put them on a new car anyways.

They are simply put, taking advantage of the buyer at an emotional and vulnerable time.

The longer you leave that badge on the more it will leave some kind of an impression in or on the paint.

You know I always say the same thing I even got into an argument when I bought a car with a GM at a dealer because he said it was policy and I told him I wasnt being compensated for advertising their dealer so how dare they stick a badge on my car. He tried telling me is was customer pride. I laughed and told him if he tried to put a badge on the car I wasnt buying it.

I just removed my Dealer Badge. I used GOO GONE as mentioned by "skwon" and it worked like a charm. Had to do about 4 applications because the foamy part of the tape was just absorbing it. The sun eventually came out and helped a lot. Thus I didn't have to worry about using a hair dryer LOL. The bottle said to wash with soap and water to remove the GOO GONE oil. I just took the VT to a well deserved car wash

I was dumb LOL. I should've taken a before pic. This is a mid pic, but the tape basically ran about 4 inches

I was lucky enough not to have to argue about it at my dealer. My sales guy mentioned that they couldn't put their dealership plate holders on because the VT needed the special "Veloster" ones due to exhaust heat etc. And they don't use any other badges at this dealership, just the plate holders. :)

As for goo-gone... stuff of wonders. Just make sure to put some wax/sealant on the area after :)

LOVE IT! I am going to have to use this one.

And as for the heat gun. If you have one that is HI/LOW then just put it on low. It really shouldn't mess with the paint as long as you don't leave there concentrating on one particular spot.

If nothing else, DON'T use the heat gun anyways. Chances are, you will heat the adhesive up just enough under the badge and get it to where it doesn't want to come off and just move around.......quite messy. Fishing line or Dental floss......best way trufhully

Totally agree. In my last 3 purchases I've had it written on the bill of sale that the dealer won't stick anything on the car, and I've also had them do my debadgeing for me before delivery. They forgot the TURBO on my Veloster, but I think it will look pretty good with the V badges that should be arriving soon. If not, I'll let them worry about that too!

Oh, and while I'm at it, has anyone changed the steering wheel badge? How? How about the rim badges? Yes, I'll keep searching but this is one thread that came up :)
