So I been running a test and been posting to the other forum and did not want to cross post to it unless ok'd by a moderator.

Heres a quick rundown:

I have switched over to pump 93 on my second tank and noticed a improvement in performance.. I have a PLX multi gauge reading my ODBII values. SInce the switch and emptying out the factory fill at 700 miles and going 3 tankfulls same shell station same pump I have gone from +3 timing at WOT to +6. It pulls really hard now so what my plan is is to do 2 more tank fulls and if it dosent advance timing any further I will switch to 87 and see if it pulls timming back to compensate for the lower octane. Hopefully this will end the regular vs premium debate over performance. Also when I get the chance I will do a stock dyno to see if my AFR is rich or not and see what numbers its pulling.

I would rather not have to repost each forum but I will in the name of VT Science:cool: Mods please let me know if its cool as its good info to have across all VT owners

If anyone is running stock and has a stock dyno with 87 showing AFR that would be helpful info.

I'm sure someone is gonna yell at me but b4 you switch back can you do a few tanks of 93 to test for mpg vs 87? As this is my dd mpg is my first concern so I would like to know if the extra cost of 93 can be offset by better MPGs

Swordfish: 800mi. I progressively got into the pedal more and more up to around 450mi from that point I started WOT and really test it at times. I switched to 93 around 400mi or so and that day I ran the plx on a quarter of a tank of 97 and there on.
Neo: im horrible with gas mileage but what can be assumed is if you are adding timing you are running more efficient and will get better mpg if you baby it sinse it dosent need to dump more fuel to compensate for heat and stuff (can someone interject if im off)
-X- : I forget the model but I have the one that is a ugly square and can cycle thru or list 4 parameters. it also has the ability to link to other plx gauges and sensors like a AFR or EGT sensors. Right now I find (Water temp, Air intake temp, Timming the most useful. its faster if you leave out parameters so I only monitor those 3. AIT= is useful if you do mods to cool the intake charge so you can bounce it against outside ambient temps, Water= is your coolant and you can possibly use that to see how the cooling system is handling the temps ive found I had air in my cooling system on my mini thru this. TIM= this I pay most attention to as when I go WOT it will settle down to a number and stay put till I let off.

Its apparently still learning because I did a lil run to get food and it was now at +9 WOT I will probably extend the 93 tankfulls till it settles down this may also be cause of the recent oil change so im going to need to see it settle before I try a little 87.

Thanks for the dyno it wont be as scientific when I bounce mine against it but maybe the AFR will tell a little bit. More to come VELOSTER SCIENCE!!

WOw just looked at that AFR that is lean :serious: all that jaggedness maybe its pulling to compensate?? Im starting to get out of my knowlegable area but im guessing this car dosent like 87. It literally feels like Squuueeeeeeeze as the turbo comes on in my car all the way to redline. my mini was putting 183hp 163tq to the wheels and my veloster feels much faster in get up and go and here I come horsepower. God I cant wait now to get a baseline but I will do it once it stops advancing timing and then immediately put 87 in come back and do another dyno run. but im positive it will prove my theory. Just got to be sure
