Recently had a complete engine failure with a huge hole while driving on the highway at 65mph.
Background:
2013 hyundai Veloster turbo with about 90k miles
Regular maintenance up to date with full synthetic oil changes q5k miles. No major engine issues, did have the fuel injectors changed for #1&3. With that issue I was feeling power loss intermittent after 3k rpm, and occasional exhaust burps that weren’t normal.
so this time driving back from work going about 65 on highway I feel hiccup again with the fuel injector issue and then immediately after I have complete power loss, rpm drop to zero, hear a huge bang and I quickly pull over. As I’m pulling over I see oil light come on and quickly turn it off. Have the car towed, never turned back on for fear of oil loss, get her up in the air and huge hole with complete oil loss. Pictures attached.
