Engine swap

I know people have looked into swapping various engines into the Veloster platform in the past but one sticks out as a possibility and have yet to see any discussion on it. The Kia Forte came in a 2.0 and 2.4 naturally aspirated configurations and the mounts look to all be the same as the 1.6t Gamma. Along with the engine likely being an easier fit, there are more complete engine build packages available and turbo kits via turbokits.com. I know swaps are expensive but it seems to me like the forte's 2.4 would have a better power potential. Thoughts?

I would think building a 1.6L with pistons, rods, studs, and upgraded turbo would be easier than a swap. The 1.6L tork has is starting at 344whp and they are starting to tune now.

True.. I just found it interesting to see a larger displacement with the same mounts.
With the avaliable mods for the 1.6 now it is pretty easy to overwhelm the stock power train. Only reason I'd want to do a swap would be to get a more powerful package with less strain on the motor and components.

LS4 would require you to move the battery but would be feasible
Funny on Car fix they were rebuilding a NS engine... pretty cool looking engine with the way the crank shaft sitting in the block.

That is also my concern. The 2.0 theta from the 2016 Forte ex has identical mounts. The wiring and Forte ecu is not an issue for me and would be well worth it to have the 2.0 built and boosted (cams are also available). Transmission is going to be a limitation though.

Someone throw in a Northstar!!! Keep it FWD lol
LS4 is a fwd designated engine that the impala ss used.

How much power would you be going to? I think Tork said 400 ft lbs is what the tranny in manual is rated to but will depend on the half shafts.

The 4.6L Northstar LC3 will likely fit nicer between the frame rails than the 5.3L LS4

22.5" vs 21.75" is negligible vs dealing with the height and width issues of a DOHC engine. Also dealing with the intake gasket issues inherent to a dohc chevy design is not something I'd desire.
Give me a built EVO X 4B11t. That would be my choice.
How about a wankle . . . spin, spin, spin!

I wouldn't move a stronger engine into a car unless the platform was desirable. This platform is the weak point of the car IMO.

So like.... the whole car? lol

I think he's suggesting the "engine swap" be INTO another vehicle. lol.
Just wonder why he doesn't sell and move on...

It's easier to complain about it and then get a chuckle out of all the dudes sitting at the gas sation for another expensive refill than it is to become that dude wishing your awesome platform was practical, affordable or well equipt.

Just to be clear, I do tend to agree with him though about not wanting to spend the time, money or effort to swap a another motor into this platform. I think the existing power train packs plenty of punch for the car.
