Guys,
I just installed a K&N cold air intake into my 2013VT. It was a pretty easy install but soon after the install, i noticed that I could feel vibrations through the brake pedal. I opened the hood and the engine and the CAI pipe was vibrating a lot. I have not worked on turbos before so do not know if there is anything different then just installing the CAI. But it does not seem right.

Did you disconnect the negitave battery cable for at least 15 minutes? Got a pic of the install? Are the recirculating hoses connected? Nothing in the cone from shipping, right?

I have retightened everything and looked for leaks. Doesn't sound like there was an leaks. I also checked the cone to see if there was anything inside and nothing. Here is a few pics. image.jpeg image.jpeg

Try removing the cover over the filter. My VT ran better without it.

is it touching your master cylinder? that may cause vibration in your brake system. What did you do with the BPV?
When I had the stock Air intake I put a filter on the end of the BPV tube and capped off the hole on the pipe. But when I installed the CAI I put it back on the new pipe.

There is only two rubber tubes going into the new pipe. Cannot think those are the ones leaking.

I am not the best with engines. I do not think it is touching the master cylinder. Feels like the vibrations are coming from the throttle body where I had to unscrew two screws and put a bracket on it for the pipe to stay in place.

What did you wrap the pipe in?
That material is what one might use to wrap the manifold pipes, it was a long 2" wide piece that came with two metal ties. There was also a decent size piece to wrap the turbo, but I didn't do that... yet.

Yeah, I have a problem. I've always since my 1st car have kept it super clean, including the engine bay. It's all cleaned by hand towels and a spray bottle. I use a waterless car cleaner in the engine bay that puts a wax like protection on the metal parts that make it real easy to wipe down dry at a later date. It's called "freedom waterless car wash", it's pink in color and comes in gallon jugs.

Guys, I pushed the pipe away from the master cylinder and took off the top plate covering the filter, and there is no more vibration.
Thank you for all the help.

Sorry to bump a super old thread. Installed big gulp and worked fine but I removed the 2 washers/spacers that sit on top of the screw in rubber bracket. Now it seems that the brake pedal vibrates slightly only when I am in drive - reverse and park are not impacted. Is this because it is touching master cylinder? I will put those 2 spacers back on, I removed them so it would sit a little lower.

If it is touching, than yes. I had to screw around with washers and spacers a fair bit to get my BG to sit in place and not rub. And I still ended up putting a tiny bit of weatherstrip foam on the MC to insulate it.

Got it, thanks Jon! This morning, I put the washer back on and now it only happens if the brake is depressed almost all the way instead of slightly. I'm guessing this is still not ideal - i'm not sure if this is OK to leave as is. I rarely depress the brake all the way. I am actually not sure what the MC looks like - the only spot that looks close is towards the back near the white tank that is to the right of the BG.

edit - i just realized that white tank is the top of the MC and the BG is very close to it. I will try to insulate it like you did. Thanks again
