Anyone heard more than the current basic reports of the 11 2012 n/a V's that had their sunroof spontaneously explode?

I read that on the GenCoupe forums and I just laughed about it. I can't wait to drive roofless! I may not even report it for days if it does happen.

Yeap, this was interesting to see since many of us were following the original thread on the other forums. For a while there was only one person, but then a few more chimed in. I think there has been about 10 cases, which is a fair amount for something this new. How many Velosters(including turbo) has been sold now? 20k worldwide?

And solid statistics too. 11 Velosters make up a significant portion of all Velosters.

And Hyundai has such a weak warranty that the dealership won't replace the glass.

i think people had trouble initially to get the dealerships to replace it. but after the first few cases they were fixing it.

The 1 year 12,000 mile warranty is quite clear and arguably this is covered by the 5 year 60,000 mile warranty. If my dealer was anything but apologetic and didn't offer me a loaner they would find the back of my lawyer's hand quite distasteful.

My sunroof mechanism is overly slathered with heavy duty grease. Perhaps it is in response to this issue.

I accidentally reached up through the sunroof to feel if the groove was compatible with a roof rack. The next day I found a smear of grease on the roof frame. I tried to wipe it off with some toilet paper but it only smeared it around. I didn't want to let this grease eat the finish or gather dust so I hit it with some Windex and a fresh microfiber cloth. It took some effort to remove it.
