I'm writing this at 1:31AM so it actually occured yesterday 7/26/2012.
I passed by the closest Hyundai dealer to me (for the 1000k times...lol) and to my surprise I saw a VT in Elite white. Wow, the car it's even more impresive in person.
Here are the specs:
Color - Elite White
Trany - Automatic
Options - Ultimate Package
Test Drive - Yes
Fun to Drive - Hell Yes!!!
Impression - I'm buying one
I want the 6 speed manual. The one I drove is Automatic but it's actually pretty good. It shifts quickly enough and it's fun with the paddle shifters. I have to admit the car is no GTI, but it's definitely the best one for the money. You get a little bit of everything.
I work at a Toyota Dealership, I test drove both, the automatic and manual FR-S and now I can compare it to the VT. Since I have only driven the Automatic VT I will only compare it to the Auto FR-S.
From a rolling start, I felt more Gs or better say, a stronger pull from the Veloster Turbo. There is obviously more low end torque. The FR-S's strength comes at high RPMs. The steering is more precise on the FR-S, it also has better handling than the VT. The FR-S automatic transmission rev matches when you down shift, the VT doesn't. The VT shines in High Tech & standard features plus it's more confortable. Also, the VT's interior it's much more appealing. The FR-S's exhaust sounds better. Both cars have their ups and downs. The truth is the best car is the one you choose and the best way to find out is to test drive both cars. Do it and you will be surprised.
