Going into the dealer tomorrow. The cycling of the recirc valve has gotten so bad that the car feels like it is stumbling between 4000 and 5500 rpm. In fact, one time today it just hung at 5000 rpm for about 5 seconds. The cycling is so bad that it will literally rock you in the seat.

By stumbling I mean; pulling hard, nothing, pulling hard, nothing, and by nothing I mean almost as if you had shut the engine off.

I'll report what we find tomorrow.

Im wondering if you have an intake? And if they will be typically dealer A$$holes and blame your problems on the intake and call voided warranty?

I make too much boost!!! Now let me explain: We checked the BOV and it was good. The only time we could get it to act up was in a heat soak condition. We ran the car for a good 15 minutes then parked to let it heat soak for about 5. Bingo, fluttering BOV. Now, let me say that I've known this mechanic at the dealer for 15 years, and he is very well trained and very good. The first thing he asked was, "Are you sure you don't have a tune?" and of course I don't. So now we go into theorizing mode. We know the BOV is working correctly, so it must be opening to relieve boost, Why? (Theory) when the IC heat soaks the spring in the cheap factory BOV weakens and allows the valve to open. Now, why doesn't this happen on others? (Theory) with the Injen intake and the Magnaflow exhaust the engine is able to flow more air in and out and makes more boost. enough boost that the weak spring can not hold it closed. (note 1) Luckily I have ordered a FMIC from one of the forum members so I think the problem will be solved when I install it.

On a side note: I asked, "Is it a BOV or Recirculating Valve?" He said, " It is a BOV that recirculates verses one that vents to the atmosphere."

And, just to stir the pot on another thread, I asked about 93 octane versus 87 octane. He said that the ECU will allow the timimg to advance with the 93 octane and you should see 10 to 12 hp increase.

(note 1) this is just a theory and of course yours is welcome and appreciated.

AWESOME!!! (I love troubleshooting)

Ok, so the blame is the small intercooler getting hot and making the weak stock BOV just giving out at that moment. I was thinking in my head someones aftermarket intercooler would answer that question seeing as, for example, turbosocks intercooler deleted that heat soak. But then I read on that you are getting one from someone (I wonder who :D). so after that install, it shouldn't flutter.

BTW Awesome info about the 93 octane and gaining 10 to 12 hp. I wonder if that 10 to 12 matters if it has ethonal or not. like if it has ethonal will it be a lower increase hp.

Great info Btjetman.
