It was announced back in January that Hyundai + Kia were going to intergrate Google Maps into their vehicles for navigation. Haven't seen any vehicles with Google Maps yet. I'm assuming it's going to start with the 2014 Models but other than the articles from January there hasn't been any talk about it.

Anyone heard anything in regards?

Can't really complain about our current maps (VT) though. Compared to the maps in the 2013 Sonata (brothers car) and 2013 Elantra (mothers car) we definitely have the best looking, and cleanest maps. Even compared to my fathers 2012 V our maps are definitely better.

This was announced on Apple's keynote in June. But we can do way more then just maps. I'm pretty sure we can even stream video as well and other apps. We won't see this until next year and I bet all we have to do is go to the Hyundai dealership and get out computer updated but the 2014 models will probably already have it installed.

Here's an example of what it would look like...

I prefer google maps over iOS maps, but if it can replicate the iOS screen then we should be able to use google maps on iPhone. But still I'd much rather have the maps built in to the car and not have to worry about my cell phone losing service while using it's navigation.

Why any manufacturer would go with the number two mobile OS is mystery to me.
iOS is limited to a select few devices (iOS 7 even fewer devices). Meaning compability support will be limited to those devices, unlike android phones that get a new device every month or so.

Which potentially limits compatibility even further.

While it's true that new Android phones are released every few months they all run the same core OS with just a "skin" making them different from each other. Application compatibility between Android devices is the same for all devices running the current and near 100% compatibility for the previous two OS releases which dates back to more than two years ago. Don't buy into the Android fragmentation pitch, IOS has the same issue. I doubt we'll see many Iphone 4s running IOS7 at 100% functionality.

No matter, the whole screen replication is just bells and whistles... Like I said earlier, I'd rather have a decent map (i.e. google maps) built into the HU.

When I was buying my VT, the salesman asked if I wanted navigation, because they were changing the headunit software to incorporate Google Maps, so it wasn't an option for new VT's again until 2014. This was 4 weeks ago. *shrug*
