How many k's to expect when collecting.

So when I collect my brand new car, will there be many k's on the clock?
Some thing that I have noticed is people saying they had a few hundred miles on theirs etc. so is this the norm or maybe something that they knew about when purchasing.

Most likely that means the dealer aquired it through a dealer trade. I used to have to drive cars 100+ miles for some of our trades when i worked in the industry years and years ago as an inventory manager. And this was high end cars even that we'd do this on at times.

Mine had 26 miles when I bought it and about 18 of those were from me testdriving the crap out of it lol.
Hi Bender, The last 3 new cars I have bought (Mutsubishi's) have had around 10K's on them. A brand new car shouldn't have had much more because they are only really driven on to and off of the ship, they are usually transported by truck for any longer distance. There are probably a few K's clocked on it during QA checks. Only a few more weeks to go hey :) I have pretty well resigned myself that it will not be till early Jan for me now :(
I'm not clear on the terminology - K's? (k=1,000 in my head).
If we're talking miles on the car, mine had 25 when I picked it up. I put around 10-12 of the miles on during test drives.
Mine had 23 miles on it.

Hyundai test it for 21 miles. Anything more than that is dealer driving it or test driving and loading / unloading from trucks.
When I picked mine up, it had 14 miles (22km) on the clock!

The OP and I are in Australia so we are talking Kilometers (or as we call them here "K's") :) 25 miles = 40K's

I really wish the U.S. would just adopt the Metric system like the rest of the world already...and Velosters with superiorly tuned suspension and steering lol.

And drive on the correct side of the road :p BTW it's a joke don't flame me, I know most of the world drives on the right :D I recently spent a month travelling around the US (and had a really great time) but found it very confusing.

HAHAHA. I was playing forza the other night and I love driver seat view. Every time I have a RHD car to drive in the game it takes me forever to get used to and I'm cursing it, so I can imagine the confusion.

Yes, kept getting in to the passenger side of the car and wondering who stole the steering wheel - LOL

Got it - didn't look at your location
HAHAH, please tell me you really got into the passenger seat at least once out of habit and just sat confused for a second.

That's great.

Definitely when we picked the rental car up. Drive back to the motel was scariest 15 mins of my life. A couple of taxi drivers also were not impressed when I opened the drivers door to get in while they were putting bags in the trunk. By about day 4 I reckon I was getting used to it.
I always like driving in Europe, sitting on the left and changing gear with my right hand (the opposite of what we do here). My wife couldn't believe I could co-ordinate it all so easily (adapting to driving an automatic is easier, but no-one drives automatics in Europe).

My demonstrator had 11kms on it when I took it for my test drive. It smelt awful when I brought it back because it was the first time the engine and exhaust had gotten hot (they just get driven in and out of yards and on and off ships). If you request things like window tinting the car will get driven more kms to get these things done. There could be dealer transfers involved which may mean a cross-town trip. A maximum should be 30 or 40.
when we picked ours up she had 21 km`s on her now 3 weeks later over 2000 lol
Sorry about the confusion on the K's :)

Yeah I got in the passenger side to drive a few times! Agree about it being a bit freaky, you have cars coming towards you on the opposite side, it's weird. I kept trying to lean my right arm in the window :p

I had not even got out of the airport when I was on the wrong side of the road to turn until my wife quickly told me I'm in the wrong lane! Ha ha
My Aussie VT had 12km on the dial when I got the keys.

I do know that the VW Beetle has to be driven from the plant to the dock which is about 25km. They built the odometer with a reset facility that could be used 3 times only in the first 5000km. All you have to do is hold the trip reset for 60 seconds and it resets to zero.

Hence, I will never buy a Beetle as I have seen a guy who works at a dealer reset a 2300km to zero
Holy shit!!! That's dodgy as!!!
