Hey Guys/Gals, I took my engine cover and a couple of trim pieces to get Hydr-Dipped today. Found a local company that does fantastic work at a reasonable price. The quality of the work from this shop is top notch. The owner is a perfectionist and will not let anything leave his shop that does not meet his standards. The only down side at the moment is, right now there is about a 3 week turn time (He is that busy do to the quality of his work). His dipping tank can accomodate 48" X 72" so I'm thinking the rear valance in carbon fiber is going to be my next dip. I'll post pictures of my parts when I get them back. Here is a link to his website so you can check out some of the things he can do.

Very cool! The only thing I know about hydro-dipping is that the larger the surface area you are dipping, the harder it is to get the pattern to lay appropriately without stretching. Smokeshow offers hydro-dipping for the grilles he manufactures, and this has been a problem they've come across previously.

I was talking to the owner today. He said his biggest problem, is with wheels that are really concave. The edge of the rim effectively acts as a cutting edge. Once that happens you only have so much print and in order to get all the way into the concave area, it is going to stretch. Our stock wheels, for example, would not have that problem.

curios, can this be done with our hoods? or would that even be cost effective (better off buying CF hood)? Or does he even have a big enough tank for something like that?

SO looking at is prices, it says under engine components for a large cover its 80 + tax...NOT BAD.

This is great info/research. Thanks btjetman. You and your carbon fiber LOL

EDIT: I was looking at the onehorseracing.com from the video before I lcicked on btjetman link. Either way. both are good pricing. 85 a wheel, if you really like that stuff it isn't too bad.

Went to the shop today to drop off a key fob for one of the forum members and got a picture of the door pull handle. It has been dipped and will be clear coated later today. I should be able to pick it and the engine cover up the first of next week.

bt - that looks better than any other carbon hydro graphics I've seen. Very nice job.
Still unable to get those door pulls off. Am I doing something wrong or are they just incredibly tight?

Did you find the slot in the front side? If so, Put a slot screwdriver covered with a rag into the slot. Grab hold of the shank near the cover and give it a good, quick yank. They are tight. and when you go to put them back on, put the top in place first, then you can smack the lower portion home with the side of your fist.
