Some turbo lag is normal but it is very little on the oem turbo. Below 3.5k rpm on the gen 1 VT do not expect as much response/boost/power as above that area.

yes, we need better air/fuel cooling and parts to limit the problems we have.
going full throttle, you either brake boost or let the boost build up while youre driving and switching gears, full throttle the car will choke and hates tons of boost especially at low rpm's or instantly..

What are the extra things? and which plugs?

Sixth element has a kit (I don’t know much about it) but they promise 300whp and it looks like they redo the turbocharge piping with a new turbo/intercooler they also raise the rpm limiter to 7k with new spark plugs and bigger exhaust piping
