So I've had my deposit held for the past two months with my local Hyundai dealer, since then it's been weeks of conversations that went like this:

"Hi Brian? Your Veloster's arrived. We have a whole shipment of 2012's in! Oh, you didn't want a 2012? Sorry about that"
"Hi Brian? We got a Veloster Turbo in today... it's in black. Oh that's right, you wanted Vitamin C. Sorry about that."
"Hi Brian? What model and features did you say you were looking for again?"

Then last week I got two very different calls.

"Hi Brian, we should have your Veloster in two weeks." then three days later, "Hi Brian, you should come pick up your deposit check, we have no idea when we will be getting in the Veloster you've been asking for."

I was crushed. I started looking at the Scion FR-S as an alternative, or possibly going back to the Mini Cooper Clubman S. Instead I decided to write Hyundai Corp a letter (again). I had written them once already and they told me they were trying to find one as well but didn't seem to be having any luck either. So my 2nd letter basically tells them I am highly disappointed and my overall satisfaction is 0 since no one can seem to find this brand new car. Told them I have $30K that I'm trying really hard to give them but no one seems to want it. I also CC'd a few Hyundai VP's I found on Google.

Next thing I know I get a call from my dealer last Friday, tells me my Veloster is on a boat right now with my name on it, they have a VIN# and instructions to be shipped directly to my dealership with my name all over on it.

MY CAR WILL BE HERE. SOON. I am so happy.

"Hi Brian, A orca whale sank the boat and your Veloster was destroyed."

But in all seriousness congrats man and welcome to the community!

When I was waiting for my Mazda3 there was a ship that sank crossing the Pacific carrying a bunch of them, I hadn't recieved a VIN yet and I assumed my car was on that shipment I ended up waiting 6 weeks for my car (4 more than the dealer told me).

Cougar Ace: The Great $103 Million Snafu at Sea - Feature - Car and Driver
Damn, now that really sucks. So did you ever get your Mazda3?

However I am not in the same boat (yeah, bad pun intended). I got an email from Hyundai Corp yesterday, tells me my car is in Los Angeles right now and will be here this Monday.

I GOT MY VT!!!! 2nd V Turbo in all of Arizona, only Vitamin C in AZ so if you see my car then you'll know who's behind the wheel.

Good God, this car is so much fun to drive. Picked up my new ride Friday night, I absolutely love this car. I've been enjoying the keyless entry and bluetooth pairing with my phone to talk and listen to my music. I got lots of stares from other drivers, even had 3 people ask me about the car this weekend too. It's so comfortable too, though I'd still rather have the fabric seats because leathers going to suck during the summer time. The dealer gave me free window tinting too for all the hoops I had to jump through.

If the mods here want to add me to the VT map, please do.

I tried to order one but couldn't.

Finally after working with 3 dealers in Atlanta and coming up with nothing I was getting frustrated and I muttered something out of desperation, "I will pay retail if you can get me the car I want". I was desperate. All of the salesmen stopped and stared at me.

There were 5 Vitamin C Turbos on other lots but none were M/T. There were 7 Ocean Blue Turbos and one was M/T. I took it.
