Installed this last night. Took maybe 15min. All pretty much straight forward. Got a free "hydro" shield with my purchase. Looks really sharp in the engine.

Initial impression. Loud. Really loud. As in, I don’t even need an external BOV loud. Cruising speeds its fine, but as soon as you put your foot on your peddle you hear not only the air being drawn in, but the turbo spool. Let’s just say, everyone in the parking garage here at work today that I drove past, turned around to see what I was driving LOL :)

I reset the ECU last night. OTW to work today, I went around some cars in 4th gear.. and it pulled STRONG. The combo of this intake + my Solo exhaust seems to work quite well.

I went through AutoAnything, used there 15% off code, ended up being 190 shipped w/ free hydro shield. ( 26 dollar value in itself ) Pretty pleased with the outcome.

sharp! i'm rocking the CAI and love it so far. might reconnect the BPV tube to it, 'cause like you said...it's just as loud with as without. still have to reset the computer though. since the catback and cai, i've seen improved gas mileage (well, when i'm not hammering the pedal!).

Good deal, I paid $215 from ImpactRacingZone. Installed 3 days ago and love it.
Why do you need to reset the ECU?

i think it's 3".

resetting the ecu (as i understand it), makes the computer learn how the engine functions again. meaning, since there is so much more air coming into the engine it needs to adjust. i believe it will do this without resetting, but makes it do it faster. when you reset the ecu (from jeeps and such that i had before), they would rough idle for a few minutes until they relearn where the idle should be, etc.

this may all be malarkey, but whatever.

You are correct. Its actually part of the install instructions. ( removing the lead off the negitive battery terminal for 2min )

Over the course of your car driving 1000's miles. It adjusts air / fuel .. when you put on a bigger intake that takes in more air. It notices that the "avg air" coming in is higher, so it will slowly adjust over time to balance out to where it should be.

But resetting the ECU, your wiping the slate clean. So when you fire it up and start driving. ALL current data going in, is calculated and adjusted by the ECU. Rather than taking into considering the hundreds of miles of before hand data/driving.

The less numbers it needs to crunch, the faster it will adapt to your new mods. ;)

Nope. Just had mine off for about 30 minutes while I dis the taillights. I unhooked the positive side though. Should be the same effect. Your trip will reset, but xm/radio stations remain.

Honestly, Im getting better gas milage. Approx 2-3 more. Infact, the other day I drove to work. 60 - 75MPH and avg 35mpg... normally that would be 31 -32 if Im lucky.

As for power. The pull doesn't seem so flat now. It gradually feels like its pushing me into my seat more and more all the way to redline. My fiance' knows NOTHING about cars, but even she noticed a difference.

+1 for seemingly better mpg. Have to get my foot off the floor to be sure though.
I'm going to reset my ecu like you suggested. Probably tomorrow. See what happens. I think mine may have already adjusted with all the miles it has with the intake on. I was paying more attention to it on the way home. Was hard to pay attention gunning down the mountain. ;-)

sounds good guys have this and a pierce ms strut bar on my list of first mods. sounds like most people dont have a problem with it. as long as it doesnt decrease power and doesnt kill my vt then i will be buying one along with a strutbar since i have heard the strut bar is a great improvement to the car
