Last night i installed a Forge BOV (with the green spring) and a Injen CAI in my 13 vturbo.

i didnt take it on a test run until today, the first 2 gears didnt feel so bad i could tell a slight difference n then after that it just all went down hill, seems like the car got a lot slower for instance 6th gear n im rolling 65 it feels like it takes an eternity to get from there to just 80 with the pedal mashed all the way down. I read the instructions for both installations from turbo socks and the orginal instructions as well but apparently i messed up some where a long the line.. ive already re installed it twice and had the same results, i was going to try a SRI but i dont think thats the case.. can some one tell me where i went wrong or if any one has had the same issue? oh n also i got a check engine light as well on the way home going about 40mph.

I took my STi to pep-boys when my CEL came on to find out what the code was. They didn't charge me for it either (I still tipped the guy tho).

I had a similar problem after installing my Forge BOV.

I have an Injen SRI and Forge BOV with the green spring. When installing my forge BOV I decided to remove the bypass plate and hose all together. I plugged the end of the intake where the bypass hose was connected to. I tested the BOV before I installed the bumper back on and it was working great as it should (opening / closing etc...) I installed the bumper took it for a test drive and the car LAGGED!!! so hard. It's like either the turbo was not spooling, however, the BOV was going off. The car had no pull it felt like I was driving my old Veloster N/A.

I don't know about you guys but I can actually feel the turbo kick in in these cars. I can feel it without pushing the gas pedal all the way down...but in this case I had the pedal all the way down on the floor and the car just struggled and all this time the BOV was going off.

I took it apart again and this time I left the bypass plate and hose conntected, checked the BOV was opening and took it again for a test drive (This time I only secured the top two screws instead of installing the whole bumper again : / ) This time the car spook and pulled like it did before...It actually scared me a bit whent he turbo kicked in because I was not expecting it to.

I don't know if this will solve your problem but I probably didn't get a CEL because I did not drive the car enough with the issue for it to do so. I've had it for a week and it's running great. No CEL's or anything.

I don't have pictures I can post up but Turbosock's Forge BOV DIY guided me through it:

Turbo: Forge Motorsports BOV Install

In any sense, I don't see how leaving the byplass plate in and the hose conncted solved my problem. According to the guide the bypass plate won't work because the BOV will block it either way, but it did.

Also, it should be noted that in Turbosocks install, based on the pictures, he left the bypass plate on but he did not connect the hose because of his custom intake.

hose i meant, sorry. i just dont want the hose dangling there if i dont need it.. plus im in texas so there really is no place im going to run into a puddle n have it sucked up into the CAI... would it be smarter to cap it off or hook the hose up from the bypass to the CAI even though i have the forge on it ?

If you're talking about my set up, I have a SRI not a CAI. I hooked up the hose from the bypass plate to my SRI. When I capped it off and removed the bypass plate all together the car was lagging, bad.

I don't know what would be better as I'm probably not the best person to ask but, personally, I would rather connect it. As mentioned the BOV is blocking the bypass plate from working either way. Leaving the hose connected to the bypass plate or capping it is the same thing.

I honestly don't know if the problem can be pin-pointed to this. Honestly, the only the only thing I did to the car after it started giving me the problem is re-install the bypass plate and hose and, like magic, problem solved.

I was about to put back the stock BPV if this didn't work.

okay something isnt right... i got it all attached n good to go but now my front bumper wont go on right.. i think the BOV is sitting a little to high.. i dont wanna force the bolts back in but right now thats the only thing that looks like i can do unless i remove the plastic part that sits above the BOV

Yes, the BOV sits higher with the bypass plate. I managed to put the bumper back like that. You should have someone help you out to align the holes. I had to force it on mine but it wasn't too bad.

thanks a lot frank! huge difference.. was a bit of a pain to get the bumper back on on my own but i got it.. huge difference in the car.. runs great n the CAI + BOV are ridiculously loud.. sounds great. unfortunately i got carried away n got pulled over but he gave me a second chance.. (who would have expected that)

You guys tried to run the forge without the plate? You didnt notice that there was no way it could seal that way? there are bumps where the mounting holes are so if you bolted it down like that the car wouldnt be able to build boost since the top of the intercooler was open.

o my.. i just saw this and I had to LOL.. sorry :p

Without the bypass plate, the entire system is constantly leaking all of the boos pressure o_O that is why you get the lag because it is essentially running N/A which means the power would be most likely LESS than a NA V because the compression is lower.

The plate needs to stay to keep the system closed.

I would also only use the green spring as the yellow CAN trip the P2261 CEL.. The P2261 doesn't do anything but makes for an annoying light on the dash :p

This is EXACTLY why I try to make a super informative DIY everytime I do a modification to the car!!
