Read few UK reviews this morning, and specs read 186PS, is that correct?
In Europe and surrounding countries VT comes with 186 BHP while in US it comes with 201 BHP. As far as I understand it is the same engine for both regions the difference is in the engine control unit due to different regulation. Hopefully the upcoming SFR ECU will bring both cars to 250 BHP

Interesting.

So the answer is yes. Now my question would be, why less powerful there? Or in other words, why a more strict regulation there.

Not sure if I may like a 250+ VT. The over steering will be horrible, unless Hyundai put 4WD on it, that would be awesome.

You do have slightly more torque however (199 lb-ft compared to 195 lb-ft). Hyundai UK President and CEO explained "UK drivers tend to prefer more torque from a lower engine speed, so our European engineers have specified a set-up that still provides a substantial increase in power– up from 140 ps to 186 ps– while also delivering the desired low-end torque. The resulting package is very competitive against the performance of competitors such as VW Scirocco and Vauxhall Astra.”

That sounds BS to me. Sacrificing 15bhp to gain 4ft/lb of torque doesn't make sense from a marketing perspective. I doubt if you'd notice 4 more torque under your right foot

4 peak torque dosent mean anything, but you can be sure to loose more than 4lb/ft of torque in the top end if its really 15hp less
